Hay Gregstero, I don't disagree, but at the same time, I normally do about 50 hits daily to my ezine articles till they hit the list. So I guess the question is Sweetfunny, can you do anythig to help us out? The Software is awesome, but for me, its mostly good for ezine. Or if anybody has found a workaround and can post it that would be awesome as well.
Cheers

How when it can be doing 2,000 connections at once, 2000 keywords at once in 4 different states across the 4 engines because each engine harvests at a different rate with 2,000 proxies?

The details you want would be a blur and unreadable. Imagine a 2,000 line text file with every line changing every second, do you think viewing that would be beneficial?

I see your point.
The problem is... when I search blogs I have a big list of keywords. I start them and have maybe some hundred proxies. When I start the harvesting with the old harvester i know for sure the list wont end at the last keyword. I can say before the start that after some time mostly google will stop working. So I only have 3 connections then. Google isnt reasked because at one keyword and one page of results all proxies were tested and didnt work. Then this search engine isnt reasked again.
When this happens I can look in the log or stop the harvester and look there in the log at which keyword google stopped working...
Then I save the urls, and create a new searchkeylist were the keys that are already asked are deleted.
After that start again... merging the urls later...

With the actual stats I have no insight what is happening. There isnt even a log after stopping. And I dont know if google was requested for each keyword and keyword result page...

Maybe im a perfectionist and want to have all results that are available... but at the moment the multiharvester gives no insight what its doing. Thats not good for me...

Maybe there is a solution when you can describe how the multiharvester is requesting the searchengines?

Or how about a resultpage where you state a list what requests failed ultimately with every proxy? So that I can see at the end that keyworda in google didt get a result from resultpage 2 on? Or similar? That way I could retry all the keywords that arent completed?
This way it would be possible to get every result available...

Sweetfunny, I recently purchased scrapebox and it works brilliant for the uses you have shown. My only area of struggling is pinging for some reason, but that is probably me. I have watched your tutorial vids and Frankies on youtube, all ideas and suggestions are welcomed as I am still very much learning some areas of the ropes of IM.
Anyway great piece of software, well done and thanks. xx

Not trying to jump on sweets' toes, but just curious - what happens when you try to ping? What sort of trouble are you having? And what (if any) proxy source are you using? I or someone else on this thread might be able to help - we've used scrapebox a little bit.

I just upgraded both of my licenses of SB running on 2 different PC's. I rebooted after the upgrade, and both PC's stop harvesting with 2 connections left to harvest. Ive tried to harvest 3 times on each PC and get the same problem each time. It says Status - Harvesting with 2 connections left ( I set it to 10 connections max per search engine with over 100 working proxies available). Clicking Stop Harvesting doesnt respond. Again, both PC's doing this.

Any ideas as to what may be causing this?

Thanks all.....

If your problems are when using the multithreaded harvester, it is also happening to me with my SB's.

I let it run 6+ hours but still stuck with (? small num of con like 3) and Status says Harvesting ... but it never finishes.

And yes, the Stop Harvesting button does not respond ... sometimes the logger dosent catch the urls scraped after a hang.

I have just been using the old method, but the multi threaded harvester is 1000 times faster...

I have emailed Sweets...

Yeah okay that makes at least 3 of us - I sent a support ticket in earlier today. I'm getting very similar behaviour.

There is another thread here somewhere (it was a thread about a SB prob ) where a poster states the same problem also.

I wish it worked! ;) 30,000+ urls scraped in 4 minutes! lol ... on one of my dedi's.

I am finding out more with each 24 hours that pass ... I am now getting a pretty steady %20+ success rate on runs (I don't even post to BlogEngines, havent for a week now, they are trash holes)

It's all in the comments and blog research people ... take the time to think outside the box!

I can usually get around 6000 backlinks on a 20,000 WP blast... anyone else getting good (great?) results?

At least Im not the only one experiencing this. Yes, the problem is when using multi thread harvester.

Ive done some testing and this seems to be a random problem on my end. It only happens to me some of the time not all of the time.

The computer isnt maxing out or locking up. SB isnt even hogging CPU's when it gets stuck. And its not showing any incoming or outgoing traffic when it gets stuck. It just gets stuck at the end of the harvest with a few connections left and the only way to get out of it is to ctl alt del and kill the process and start over.

I will wait patiently for more info.

On my machines, It has actually harvested successfully and completed only once instead of randomly succeeding (I was surprised).

I tried the exact same settings and it hangs again.

Oh well... I'm still having fun and linking like a bandit... hehehehe

* Yawn * Good morning :D

v1.12.10 Uploaded

  • Socket Timeout issue on harvester addressed
  • IPC Timeout on the Logger Increased

Only a small release to address the main issues regarding the harvester.

I too got the same result with the proxy harvester. I think though it maybe because the website it tests to see if it exists has a problem. I tell you why, right after I looked and tested the proxies and it returned zero I closed scrapebox and reloaded it. It could not find any servers to verify my licenses. I think this is because either my IP was banned from that router or the website that is checked was down.

Any thoughts? Do we know what website is looked for when testing IPs

When testing proxies, and verifying your license there's multiple servers involved in different datacenters and if one may be down it will switch to another and so on as a failover system.

Here is the primary: http://i43.tinypic.com/2vlp7vr.png

Every 60 seconds it checks for a string echo'd from a MySql database, so it will report downtime if DNS, HTTP or MySql is down which is what that 2 minutes was last month me killing MySql to test it. So any connection problems was most certainly local on your machine.

Regarding Ezine, yes it appears they have changed the way (or timespan) they count views i tested it before going to sleep.

I will look in to this today and try to figure out how their new system works.

just took a look at the changelog and was really impressed at how far scrapebox has come. i should have already grabbed it when it was 47$ but still excellent at 57$

THANKS SWEETFUNNY!!!!

The new update you just put out appears to have fixed my problem with the multi-thread harvester hanging up...!!!

I do have a question.

Any guidance or limitations on the # of proxies to # of multi-harvester threads to set? Obviously if you use 10 proxies and set the multi-thread harvester to 100 threads goo-le will block those 10 proxies in like 30 seconds. Im thinking that even if you have 100 working proxies and set it to 100 threads there might be an issue with those proxies being blocked....? Also, is there any way to know if all of your proxies are blocked by goo-le in the middle of a harvest? In the last version, you could see this in the harvester and in this version there is no way to tell if this is going on.

Any ideas or suggestions? Or did you build in some limitations into this version of SB?

FYI - I just harvested 140K url's in 8 minutes with the multi-thread harvester set at 30 threads per search engine.

Anyone else feel free to comment on this. Is there a # of proxies to multi-thread harvest setting ratio we should be using?

Thanks all!!

Have you taken the time to read through this thread, my SB best practices thread, and watch the videos?

everything you mentioned can be avoided if you have.

Update to the latest version.

And don't EVER try testing/troubleshooting a problem like this without proxies before posting here or asking for help or something - it will just get you blocked by the search engines. I guarantee that you are currently blocked by them and will be for at least a few more hours if you tried scraping them without proxies.

Lemme know how things go after you get the latest version and verify you have been unblocked by the search engines.

Just bought it, awaiting activation :)

Edit: Activated, only 10 minutes; not too shabby ;)
