AI Article Penalty Speed Run Case study 4000 posts

Great journey! I’m planning on doing something similar on some of my older (dead) sites.

I’m also using the Inline Related Posts Plugin. As a workaround for images, I scrape images from Unsplash (using Python) and use the Quick Featured Images plugin.

Good luck!

Is there any marketplace to get that premium version for cheap because I want to try it first on another website

Amazing share OP, I am doing something similar, just in not EN markets. So far I see mixed results, using expired domains

I am wishing you luck. I will try adding then plugin to my website tomorrow. However I wonder if it will automatically adjust if I ever change a pages categories, as mine are a little mess right now.
Good to know because I was going to give it a shot.
I personally feel its worth more for my main website that one I'm just mass producing AI, since, especially for money pages it can help me create hundreds of in text links directed at the single page. The issue comes in that you can only really do one page at a time if you are adding links TO each page. You can add more links going outward fast but this requires all pages on your website to have their keywords properly set so the tool can find links for it, and in my experience, even after hooking up with GSC this isn't good enough as it will use whole search terms as the keyword instead of picking out the main words.
For example my imagine my page is "Should I save money or get a loan for college?" and my intentions are to get links with the word "loan" "student loan" etc. It will not find these links across my website unless I manually enter those keywords because it will be looking for the whole title as a keyword for the list, and that specific string of words is no where else on my website. You can set it to ignore certain common words to get better results like having it ignore all useless word ( should I or get a for) and this will do a little better but in the end you will need to go page buy page for your entire website hitting the add links button. This is why I don't think this is good for automatic.

Also, on another note I want you alls opinion on something.
I Lied (unintentionally, I over looked this and only realized after posting) to you all about getting every keyword in my niche.
Ive gotten every Keyword OVER 50 searchs a month.
however how I was looking at thinks then, those were all the keywords I thought mattered, as no one in this niche ever goes deeper. However right now that competitor I mentioned who started a few days after I started has gone down that deep and it makes me wonder if I should go deeper too. However, it is going to cost more money to do that and I'm not even sure it would be profitable.

of all the keywords 50 volume + I still ended up with 4 k articles from 10 k keywords.

volume 1-50 keywords have 25k results........................... and it is in the territory where a lot are more unique so I'm expecting if I went after them I'm looking at 10 k articles minimum which is double my site size. Should I even go after them or just leave those bottom scraps to the other guys?

Why should I bother going for them when even the top half of the niche had so many spaces not covered?
Also, what SEO too updates traffic estimations the fastest, I want to analyse these guys websites so bad but they are so new most things I check on say they are getting no traffic and I know that is not possible.

If I may add:
1. More pages would show google that you cover topic in-depth.
2. You can use those pages for internal links to your main pages.
3. Just because semrush/ahrefs show 30 searches, it doesn't mean it's true... By accident I hit a keyword with 30 searches as per semrush only to see 100+ impression a day in GSC.

That's a lot of indexed pages.

There's really not too many surprises in your experiment.

Basically, you're saying that the lowest-difficulty keywords are the ones that are appearing in the top ranks.

No surprises there.

You can use manually-generated content to achieve the same results.

The question is, how long will you keep those ranks?

Remember, just because you see an upward trend in rankings doesn't mean that it will continue that way.

Eventually, you will run into some sort of comparison regarding the "best pages" that rank for those low-difficulty keywords.

Just because your website didn't die or your rankings crashed overnight doesn't really say much.

Still, I have to commend you for publishing so much content in a very short period of time.

But based on how this experiment is going so far, the jury is still out.

And also, Google's response to mass publishing by publishers such as yourself remains to be seen.

You have to understand that you're not the only one with this idea.

You're also not the only one executing this.

Can you imagine thousands of people doing the exact same thing with tens of millions of pages appearing overnight?

There may be system considerations for Google to "strike back" and crack down on this practice through an indirect method.

That indirect method is quite obvious: Google's content quality parameters.

To make a long story short, I think the jury is still out on this situation.

I think this journey is interesting for many as we all want to know how it plays out... as you correctly said... the jury is still out.

These are things ive considered, as I myself have articles that I'm told should get little to nothing but are a thousand clicks a month. But in my mind ill say to each:
1.) This is true, however before now, no one humanly has covered the topic this much, all of us who cover it this much are me, and the 2 other AI guys in the same niche. There is almost no higher thing in relevancy the algo can even compare my website to. So its debatable how this would help me, or rather maybe it would help them, if I do come to find these brand new AI domains out rank me based on coverage alone, that would be interesting to report.
2.) true, this may be worth something.
3.)same idea as first thing I said.

Thanks for your input

yes, that's why im skeptical of going even high, 4k was already a giant number to me
There's really not too many surprises in your experiment.
This case study is a watch along, its not even been a month, all information is just as things are right now and everything is subject to change. Surprise is subjective, as to me, the fact google is even ranking all this AI hog wash is borderline, since all the articles are 100% detectable even by the weakest detectors, and a main part of me doing this was to see if current google was even algorithmically hitting sites with such boldly ai content. The whole name of this "AI Article Penalty Speed Run Case study 4000 posts" is based on the fact I thought this was so rediculous we might get to see my website drop like a stone day one. (hence me sacrificing a website with actual traffic and earnings so we could see).
Basically, you're saying that the lowest-difficulty keywords are the ones that are appearing in the top ranks.

This is true, but I could not tell you for certain before this, if AI would have been treated the same way, as so much people say AI content has constantly been getting hit. Given im one website so you cant really say my results are for every site on the web, and even then, my traffic gain for 4 k articles might be considered weak by many even though we are only 2 weeks in.

Lets just look at the things it DOES say so we can have some fun with it, at the very least google doesn't immediately recognize it, and it doesn't recognize it during the index process like it normally would for some other spammy content, p**n etc.
Still, I have to commend you for publishing so much content in a very short period of time.
Thanks, though as mentioned before this hasn't been much physical work as its a borderline AI spam, how fast will google catch me, case study.
But based on how this experiment is going so far, the jury is still out.

Jury is still out but in my niche, 2 other sites just like me on brand new domains have popped up, google let them pass even though they had NO DA, links or authority at all before last week. Ive seen some AI website traffic hits that went crazy hard on massive sites, way bigger than mine, but I do wonder if its because they flew too high that they got personally noticed, as these sites were ranking for months. This is why im also not sure if adding thousands more might end up ruining what could have been interesting, to see a sort of, medium-sized case study of this.
Frankly my other sites (real with human writers etc) are not disposable to me, they make too much to just toss away, im not rich. This one had only made 16 k in its life time so it was easier to abuse it for fun.
You have to understand that you're not the only one with this idea.

Completely true, sadly I cant find much people showing their over the shoulders so I decided to do one for myself, I know many of them probably see this post and think "meh, he isn't doing much".
Lucky for them, they have all the answers I seek but for them to give away all their info and tips would potentially make them less competitive which is understandable. I can afford to do this little thing because I had a website that was hardly worth my time and AI is cheap.

That indirect method is quite obvious: Google's content quality parameters.

This is true, I wonder how long though, or where google draws limits? Google also wants to be careful to not throw the baby out with the bath water so for all I know they might require a website to do MASSIVE amounts of content before any effects are even seen and 4 k posts is simply just not on the radar when most guys rn are going crazy with a whole carbon copy of Mashable appearing over night.

I personally don't think the jury will ever be in (sites die even without AI), we will follow this site until it dies and ill keep it public (the case study, not the domain name) what im deciding to do, bounce ideas off each other to see what might happen if I do XYZ on the site.

I invite you to ride this along with me, any questions you have, any ideas that are easier enough to Implement you can tell me and if I implement them, you can have a case study to sort of watch along, for all I know, the website could have died today lol.

I think this journey is interesting for many as we all want to know how it plays out... as you correctly said... the jury is still out.
Thanks for finding it worth watching. For as long as people find it interesting and we can talk about it, ill try to find time to keep updating and talking about things I notice.

I believe it'll be even more fun/joy to see how your handwritten articles perform once you decide to hand-write your best performing articles.

Im not sure if I mentioned this already but I've changed the top 5 or so into hand written already, they are comfortable in their number one spot still and google already crawled the updates and changed the serp.
So ill try to keep track of these articles over time to see what I can tell you.
We do have the realistic fear that a hit on the website will hit all content no matter if it has AI or not but Ive decided im going to take the risk so we can see if they all drop when/ if I do get hit.
Today has been the highest Traffic Monday the site has seen in months, and the day isn't even over, so im curious to see what articles have caused that once data is in for today.
It has not had a Monday this big since October when it lost all its featured snippets.

Your thread is the only thread I'm subscribed to so I get all the updates.
And I haven't seen you mentioning 5 re-written articles... it's going to be interesting to see the stats in a week or so for those 5 articles.
Keep up the great job.

makes me wonder if I should go deeper too
Definitely go deeper. You should've gone deeper the minute you saw 20% increase in traffic. If you don't, your competitors will and you might discover that those weak keywords aren't scraps, they could bring good volume.
so much people say AI content has constantly been getting hit
This matter has been debunked already on the forum. There is no problem with AI, it gets boosted or hit the same as human content. Google doesn't care about it, so keep going without fear.

You can try yaarp, In my oppinion is the best. I used only the option "find similar articles by Title". Did not used the option "find similar articles by content". You need to use a cache plugin if you have thousands of articles
Is Yaarp okay to use if you have Jetpack plugin? What is a good cache plugin

What plugin are you use for mass posting articles to wordpress?

Thanks a lot. I also wonder if the rewritten articles will get more related keywords, they rank #1 for the main keyword (well, they bounce around near the top but I chose them based on the traffic they were providing). However in this niche its possible to rank for the main keyword but still not get the closely related ones.

The thing is, covering the bottom parts of the niche, is thousands of more keywords and id also need to sort them so I'm not creating tons of duplicate content. Sorting them on Low fruits would cost me 250$ alone (unless someone can provide me with a tool that sorts by serp similarity that is cheaper). Going lower could 4 x the cost of this little project but not help earnings much. If im feeling really scummy though, I could just wait till next months data comes out and then steal all the top-ranking articles from the other AI sites in my niche since I don't think they could possibly out rank my site. Any keyword they are ranking high for is likely going to be one im not even covering. However just the ballsy fact they chose to spend all that extra money to go so deep make me feel a little bad, but most people wouldn't think twice about taking business from your own website so I probably shouldn't care.
What service do you use to generate articles? ChartGPT?
What plugin are you use for mass posting articles to wordpress?

Open AI API gtp3. I don't use a plugin for mass posting, I just set the screen limit higher and then select a ton of articles at once and hit post.
Don't the less searched terms cover parts of the more searched ones?
A lot do but in this niche many of those terms will still be rather unique. Plus you can argue that you can funnel people to your bigger articles from the small ones to extract more worth. (ie, person searches for ways to repair a fence quick and easy but you can still direct them to an entire fence building article, affiliate link some fence building and repair tools and items etc etc).
Value in the sense that you can make an article try to guide those tiny searches towards the actual money making posts. (do you really what to just knock up a piece of wood on your fence and have it looking ugly? ill teach you that but if you decided you want to repair and replace the whole thing for cheap then check out this article where I etc etc etc etc etc).
I still cluster my keywords together so I can avoid as much duplicate content as possible but the amount of keywords with low volume will cost a lot to combine. However blindly making AI articles on every single one of the thousands will probably cost even more than that, and lead to tons of duplicates.

That done, time for some little update pics, things ain't changed much cus I do this day by day so far but this was my biggest Monday on the site in months. I feel like these new articles hold up the week end traffic better than my old ones, since a big problem with this site is that nobody cares about the niche on the weekend or during the winter and summer (this doesn't mean the traffic isn't good, its just almost all worth is usually in just 5 days of the week).

I would love to see this site reach its old peaks of traffic back when I cared about it. At its peak month it was earning over a thousand some a month, and while that may not seem like a lot, it was definitely some spending money. The next few pics are just to show where the traffic is right now in comparison to the sites maximum traffic a while back on just 150 or so articles.
1677618459198.png

I put some lines for easier understanding at a glance, if traffic keeps rising quick then soon ill be seeing traffic days ive NEVER seen on this website before.
1677618642911.png
Week veiw because its better for looking at this website without all the dead week ends.
1677618736075.png
Highest week ever was 29 k traffic, current week traffic is 15 k (basically my traffic needs to double to get me back to those old glory months and weeks.

And im not flexing (wow, I made a few dollars !!!!! LAMBO NOW), im just sorta giving this as motivation to people who feel like they cant make money writing on their own, or when their epmv isnt 30+ $ they feel like they picked bad niche and wasted all their money.
These are some of the lifetime earnings (roughly 2 years from post date to when I was looking at this information) of the articles I hand-wrote on this website on weekends instead of playing games (it is outdated by a year but the idea still stands as most the top earning articles on this site are still the same articles right her, not even updated).
1677619569326.png
Some of them had HORRID epmvs, literally 5 dollars for getting you 1000 eyes? you kidding me? I digress, but all im saying is that driving the traffic was able to make these articles put in the work and earn back any money at all spent to make them. These are articles written by a literal dude who didn't know SEO properly yet, didnt optimize his site for display ads properly, didnt even really think he would make some change. I encourage people to write their own articles to also consider the lifetime or long-term value of the articles, you will make nothing when you just post it but after months you start to see (wow, that was how much money one hour of my time 2 years ago was worth?).
Ai has changed the game a lot but I still think the small guy has a place, as AI still very limited. You just need to either use AI aswell, or be hyper focus on full optimization and being better than AI sites for keywords you want to rank. (or whatever other black hat that actually works). Not that I can speak since this website was fully white hat before now so everything you see is white hat results from me 2-3 years ago.
1677620223716.png1677620328320.png

So, yesterdays traffic isnt finalized yet but its basically around the same level as the high day before.

Also, something I dont think I mentioned before but is worth knowing, this niche im in almost primarily has articles with 2k words minimum. My Ai posts are half that so the fact they rank at all is interesting to me. All the traffic gain im seeing is from long tail keywords which had low Comp so within a few days I already rank #1 for them.

I can relate, and sadly, event though I think clustering by serp results is best way, I do think you still need to manually look at things after you cluster. Ive seen a few times where google doesn't even have enough material for a completely different serp so it would end up very similar to a related search even though you in reality know the search is nothing related, but when you cluster, a machine would put them together since google things they are related. Also, sometimes google doesn't pick up on 2 things being the same thing so you actually need to write 2 versions of the same article with a different heading to rank for both. However the vast majority of duplicate can be removed off your table if you can get keywords combined properly.

I can see your point. I don't know what google will do Eventually. It is hitting me with major FOMO. Since if I really think about it, nothing is stopping me from now making 100 AI sites in 100 niches. Even if I could only scalp 100 dollars a month off each site just from the AI ranking for long tail keywords, that would be 10 k a month, and unless google hits AI content as a whole, its unlikely all 100 would burn at any given time. I don't really like this if this is the future of blogging but if it is then I have to adapt in some way.

You are welcome, thanks for reading

I would love if you could share some results with me, you don't need to reveal anything you don't want to but id appreciate seeing how google treats the site no matter big or small.

Collected the keywords, bought the content, had it all auto-published. No other editing was really done.
I don't really want to promote things because of the nature of this but I will say almost everything I used is very easy to find, people are selling Ai content like crazy, you could get an API and just mass produce... etc etc. I don't condone doing these things though.
Great post thank you for sharing

Have you looked at the WP Import plugin? I’m using this as can bulk import, assign to categories and schedule posting.

PS: I have started work on my AI content site (adding to existing site). Thanks for the tip in LowFruits clustering - that’s a time saver!
