The AI Technology War is Heating Up!

Microsoft is going INNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!
I'm impressed. Haha.. I might start using Edge as my main driver... This is INSANE!

I literally was having this debate last night with a buddy of mine.

Google, I believe, is one of the giants too big to fail. I also believe they will stumble and smash those toes repeatedly until they truly catch up (~1-2 years) BUT I don't think they will be dethroned. I do think they will however lose Market share of overall internet traffic/real estate. I think it will become 20-30% Microsoft vs 70-80% Google, vs. whatever it was a month ago.

Microsoft's 10B dollar investment was the smartest money ever spent as far as they are concerned; they overnight became a legit threat to the Monopoly king. Time to head over to the Boulevard and curb-stomp some Hotels.

Another WIN for Microsoft.
Never thought I'd see the day when Microsoft excites me again..
i am letting out a massive groan.

Microsoft makes terrible products. and their search engine is a straight rip off of every search engine before it. this is some interesting new features, but it's nothing i would call "exciting".

They do make terrible products, mostly. I agree with that sentiment. Edge is not terrible. All these big companies have had massive flops over the years -- even Google, itself. Remember Google+?
All they need is one very solid WIN, and they could win.
Microsoft's Search-based AI Model works WITH the internet, which is even a 1-up over CGPT, which is a feature I love.

Idk.. we may have to agree to disagree on this one. Usually, I'd feel the same, but this time, Microsoft has impressed me.
To me, this is exciting.

Google did stumble a bit, but they're not completely out of the game. Not by far..
This guy does a great job at explaining it:
I'm not going to "like" his video though, because of his stupid click-bait title, but I do like what he says.

i think google has been winning for a pretty long time now, regardless of their problems. it's funny when people act like they're dying all of a sudden. they aren't going anywhere.

Google got complacent, it is easy as that.

Remember back in the 2010s? Google was always innovating and coming with all sorts of interesting and useful gadgets. Like the Google Home, Google Wifi, Google Phone, and so on.

Then since 2020s, a huge amount of projects were discontinued. And I'm not sure if this caused the CEO and the management to change their approach... They seem to focus on just milking their current products, namely Google Search and Youtube. They just find ways to fuck whitehat sites further and kept finding distracting ways to reduce traffic for organic websites. Then they kept screwing up whitehat sites with each update, especially last year if you all recall. In the past, Google updates were actually helpful (e.g: MEDIC update), but all the current updates (and unconfirmed updates along with strange fluctuations and traffic throttling) now are just to push webmasters to go for paid ads.

Well, it seem to work at first... Their ad revenues were through the roof! And I think that made them more complacent further thinking they could just kept monetising their current products and screw content creators further.

Then when Microsoft came up with chatGPT integration to Bing, it is like Google was caught with their pants down... They desperately tried to get the media's attention by bringing up "Apprentice Bard". When Microsoft decides to showcase it, Google suddenly rushed and said they are doing it too. It's just pure FOMO. And yeap, they screwed up so badly.

The only person they can blame is themselves for being so arrogant and stop being the innovative (and once nice and cute) company they once were.

What's worse is Bard doesn't cite or give any link clicks to the answers they've gotten from. I think they're going to face another lawsuit soon enough.

The simplest way to know how fucked Google is would be to look at their next few quarter earnings report.

Notwithstanding Microsoft's track record for building awkward, or even straight up bad products...a broken clock is right twice a day. They can still make lemonade with the orchard of lemons they just bought. Even if all they do is harvest what they just paid for instead of innovate.

Bing was an outsider for a while, but I think now google will rush to catch up with bing. It's noticeable that the employees at google have relaxed a bit and it's noticeable in the quality of organic search results, where there is too much garbage and irrelevant information. So we'll see a Google vs. Bing tech war

Google won't stay out cross arms in this AI race, they had it hidden, they were waiting chatgpt wasn't good enought but surprise, let's see how google will handle this race for the best AI.

I wonder how more jobs AI is gonna create, compared to how many more are going to disappear?
Incomparable, just think about all the small / medium website owners without no traffic and so ads revenue… than think when mediavine and related companies will die as there will not be website where post ads and so on…

its terrifying if you ask me

Some people even caught ChatGPT in lies, meaning it spreads fake information..

I see a lot of threats and not really many benefits, and I kinda don't understand why people are so hyped about it when it actually works against them!?

ChatGPT is in it's early stage and with time it will get better.
