Jr. VIP is definitely worth it, may it be to support the forum or score gigs from time to time. Opening your own BST would be possible too. It will open a lot of doors for you, trust me.

Unless you have a product you're selling, chances are that you won't find the Jr. VIP badge any useful. I think BHW should introduce a "buy us a coffee" section that allows people like you to support the forum without having to buy an unnecessary subscription package.

That sucks, they should give the option to upgrade from Premium to Jr. VIP at the price of Jr. VIP - Premium

Trust me, it doesn't suck at all - Jr. VIP is worth the price. Simply renting your signature for $150 a year (you can sell it for much higher eventually once you have more Messages and Reaction score) will alone cover the price. You're overthinking it to be honest.
