Hey everyone, I manage brand and SEO campaigns for one of the biggest supermarkets in the country. We majorly do home delivery and don't take online orders.
Lately, we've seen a lot of fake websites using our brand name and duping customers worth hundreds and hundreds of dollars. These websites have even setup GMB with >4.5 ratings with 100+ reviews.
Examples of websites: supermarketnamenearme.com, supermarketseattle.com, supermarketnamedelivery.com etc etc.

I've reported a lot of these websites to Google. Google usually doesn't take any action and even if one gets shut down, 2 more come up.

Is this part of negative SEO? How do I go about resolving this?

If you look at large domains, you will see that they always have such websites as referring domains. Don't worry, Google ignores it for being spam.

It happened to me on a couple of websites. Some effects were very negative but then it came back to normal after a few months.

yeah it's a complete scam and if you report Google will take action to shut down their website

As you said you are a big brand supermarket in your region then why are you still not entering into online

if you enter online with sales and delivery you can avoid those scammers and you can get back your customers

I will like to know are you only selling via offline stores.

The problem is Google isn't ignoring these websites. These fraud websites are ranking for a lot of keywords. Innocent customers are being duped and they lose hundreds of dollars.

These websites are stuffed with keywords and only keywords. Their about us and contact us is full of keywords.

Does google really shut down these websites? From where do I register a complaint?

Nah, Google won't shut them down! Happened to one of my clients. You can create a top-notch informative video for the clients and upload it on youtube and rank it for our keywords.

You are right. I was just talking purely about SEO. Legal issues come into it.

You don't resolve it.

You work on your website, you learn local lead generation, and you beat them at their own game. Don't waste time trying to report or figure out how to get them removed. Instead try to figure out how they're beating you as a lead gen business, and out do them.

This is SEO, it's a dirty game.
