Yeah, there are a lot of platforms for dropshipping example that is what you said above. I would suggest for you to check cj dropshipping and Ali express because they have US and Canada warehouses. Meaning they can do faster shipment since your market is the USA and the warehouse is from the USA as well. You can also try to have an agent in the USA, you can find this person in ecom FB groups, but this method is risky as there are untrustworthy people who are claiming they can help you but only to run your money.
I started doing ecommerce since 2016. the first sale was amazing and love the feeling. We earn our first sales by using SEO as this is what i do since 2011. 70% of our traffic and sales right now coming from Organic. 20% Google Ads and 10% influencer marketing.

But to make it short, The foundation is to choose a niche and business name, find a product to sell and supplier and build an online store either Shopify or Wordpress( woocommerce), do marketing like Google Ads and SEO; you can also do FB ads depends on what your strength is.

SEO seems like possibly the slowest way to go about it for the first sale so I'm surprised. For a new site, SEO is going to take at least 6-12 months for real growth/sales.

Yes, i agree it's not the best way to get your first sale however it's not that really hard if you are targeting a low search volume keyword and you know what you are doing. I'm also not a fan of paid ads even before.
There are still people selling replica products, but i don't think it's the same profitable if you are selling trending items.
Of course, every day there are new ecom players doing drop shipping; a lot of people make a good living from dropshipping and are very successful even in 2022. Dropshipping is a low-risk business model. Since its lower costs, it is easier to become profitable with dropshipping faster than other business models.
