I think it's more than just content. Google can't properly read content, just because you write like Charles Dickens it doesn't make your blog about astronomy very good. On top of it, for example, wikipedia has lots of factual mistakes but it ranks well.
I know plenty of sites in my niche with average content and ranking just fine for years.

All, I can say for now, it's hard... google are shuffling the serps. We need more time to figure what's actually going on.

PS: "Maybe this is to combat websites pumping out tons of mediocre AI content ?" - this is an interesting point, let's wait and see.

They officially announced this statement in their blog post. The update mainly focuses to improve the ranking of small sites.

I guess AI can only understand AI, not humans.

My main website is a mix of A.I with my own editing, im just seeing google dance of keywords and some actually jumping very high.

Google cant tell the difference if it is A.I or human made unsless you dont do any editing or paraphrase the content.

Keep doing good content and let the storm pass...

This update is completely drunk as of now. One of my best-written content sites somehow lost 75% of traffic today. Google has gotten lost in spaghetti code and is pushing crap to justify its large amount of employees jobs. Its honestly a complete mess right now. I wouldn't be surprised if this phases out most of the whitehats in the industry leaving behind the blackhat and ai spammers that can still afford to brute force the algo.

now jarvis is too costly.

I think This update mostly depends on content especially more favor to AI content. However, most of the ranking lost for high quality content, it seems

I had luck like that with a site a while back. The key is to reinvest your earnings on links and build authority.
