How to best utilize e-mail list with 1+ million German subscribers?

Dear BHW,

I recently acquired this e-mail list through mutual acquaintances, however I am very inexperienced in e-mail marketing.
I do speak pretty good German although it is not my first language.

The list only contains e-mails so how would you best utilize this list? Just sign up for a German affiliate network and blast e-mails (Although conversion rate will be low)?
What e-mailing software is best / cheapest to be able to send e-mails to over 1 million people through blasts?

Or maybe there is much better options out there. I am willing to work and learn and even partner with talented e-mail marketers here with some good ideas.

Looking forward to hear your suggestions & ideas for this e-mail list.

This question comes up all the time for the last 20 years, here is my advice.

You have 2 choices

1. Forget the list and move on
2. begin your study in all things marketing to such a point in a few years time you realize that a cold non segmented German list in the days of ICANN/gdpr is literally worthless in all cases other than to someone who would can run it and turn a profit but that person would just scrape/acquire lists larger and more targetted anyway

Trust me on this, this list is worthless.

Just check your spam email inbox, check a campaign and start from there I guess. Kinda like competition research the easy way.

List comes from partners & acquaintances met through SEO over the years. They have gathered the mails from various legitimate german businesses that they have driven over the past 5 years.

Do you know any software that can handle this amount of contacts without paying thousands of dollars per month?

Yeah I won't disclose exact businesses etc. but they have been gathered from the following activities in Germany:

• E-commerce store newsletter signups (Various different ones)
• Online giveaways (Win an Ipad etc.)
• German casino promotions
• German loan providers
• Blog newsletter signups
• About 5-10 % is also scraped from various databases

Hope this gives an better overview of the use-case of the list it has 1.4 million German e-mails

Separate them into categories. Try to make it is targeted as possible. For example, a casino lead could be interested into new casino offers, etc.

Unless you are planning to sit and learn email marketing or you have a good budget to start funneling your list to fetch targeted prospects, then your list is worthless, you have a good advantage here which is the list is for established businesses in germany according to you, which gives you a good opportunity to sell, i once bought a list of 50K businesses emails from france for $5000, and i'm sure you'll find a good deal for yours.

Look for a subscription magizine that gives you commission,
news and sport very popular .
Then send a email to all your email list .

Your list won't have any value if it's not segmented and double optin.
You should offer different freebies in exchange of a double optin to weed out uninterested and move from there.
Better to end up with a 20k working list.

Interesting currently I am looking at the current services to start the list and optimize it:

1. ZeroBounce - To weed out the bad e-mail to fix the overall quality of the list
2. Mail250 - Using their bulk e-mailing service
3. Partnered with various german affiliate networks

What I still have questions about is:

1. How do I get a good aged .de sender domain? Or what are best practises in general for this.

Germany comes under GDPR and GDPR has some laws regarding email spam so I'd recommend you check them out first.

Before any sending you'll need to clean your list from bounces, spam traps and generic emails like contact, info...clean it from unsubscribers and complainers.

Create your active list: segment by openers/clickers/interests, make them double opt-in.

It depends on the strategy you want to use, you may need some servers to get the job done.
