Using Service in Anchor Text is Good or Bad?

I heard few times that it is not a good idea to use the word "services" within your anchor text. Can you guys please share your thoughts on this? If we are building a link for a service based website, should we avoid using the word "services" as anchor text while doing link building?

Out of curiosity, what is the source of this claim? I haven't heard of that before. In small amounts, I don't see what's the problem.

We operate in business services. I never had an issue with using "services" anchors before and I've been doing it for years. Most likely not an issue as long as it's used in moderation.

Never heard that before. Like any anchor text, as long as it is used in the correct ratio's you should be good.

you can use "services" all you want; if you wanted to use "porn", then that could be a problem, or "s^ck my d1ck" as well, but services is not a problem.

unless you refer to local SEO, where services in title may be a slight issue.

we are providing service but we don't want to use the same "Service" as a keyword, instead, we can use the word like "(Helpful) or (useful)links",,, still if you want the best words you can use the words like "facility", "utility", "solution" like that.

that's simply absurd ‍ If your business ofer x y service you should use it. The key with anchors is to make then natural as possible and not just keyword rich as you can be hit by an algorithmic penalty.

A good rule is to mimic what others are soing and do the same... Use Ahrefa or Semrush to see the anchors used by the results you are competing for the keywords and mimic their percentages of branded anchors, domain anchors, keyword anchors, etc
