they're my current hosting provider, and it's one like any other shared hosting provider. Nothing spectacular, nothing out of the ordinary, but not idiotic like the dude above me implies, either. I don't understand his displeasure with namecheap
It's true that my sites barely get any traffic at all (like few dozen visitors a month lol), so I can't say how good or bad their speed is for heavily traffic'd sites as many shared hosting providers do put limits on your account once you start getting 1000s of visitors a day.
Also, the thing that bothers me the most (and not necessarily about namecheap alone, but with regards to most hosting providers) is that they limit the lnodes (total number of files) you are allowed to have in your account. They all say "unlimited everything" but when you take a closer look at the fine prints or hidden text (if they even bother to make that text public as most providers don't make it public) you will see that you're not allowed to have more than 100k, or 300k, or whatever other such number of files, and this boils my blood. Even my shitty country Romania had better hosting providers 20 years ago when I first had to deal with them than most providers nowadays. Back then, I would get UNLIMITED everything (like, literally unlimited everything, including the infamous lnodes) for $3 per year or something like that.
My current Namecheap plan has a limit of 300,000 lnodes and I already used up 118,000 of them with only hosting 10 sites which are not even big (they're wordpress blogs mostly), so yeah.... I will move away from Namecheap when I start getting traffic and making money, but not beacause their service is bad, but because of such dumb limitations. But, like I said, most sharing hosting providers have these limitations, so...
