Hi, I've been researching what seems to rank youtube videos on the first page of google, but there seems to be no "rhyme or reason". I've seen videos with no embeds, links and no links in descriptions, articles posted in descriptions and nothing much posted in the description, etc. What do you guys think are the ranking factors for youtube vids?

Also, do you think linking directly to the vid page (not an embed which youtube calls a link) helps as much as it would with a html page? I've put some of the high ranking videos in a backlinks checker that returned no results for any of them?

MODS: Please don't move this thread if possible, I'm not talking about trying to rank in youtube, get more views, etc. But to rank high in google with youtube pages.

Thank you!

well... research the market...

what are the top videos on youtube and what could you do with it?

What was the point of that post?

sorry, thought i read something else.. lol little distracted today..

Im trying to do this as well. Do backlinks affect rankings with youtube vids? An example video I researched only had like 39 backlinks. Is it because youtube is an authority website? I have ~100k views on it with tube increaser.

Not sure I've researched a lot of vids that have 0 backlinks showing up when I run them through a backlink checker. Also, youtube counts backlinks differently then google. In youtube when it says "links" it is really embeds.

videos generally rank high in serch engines, couse Google and other serch engines love videos! If your keywords are in the title and description of your video you have every chance to rank high in Google with that video!

I'm not sure about the backlinks but I had a vid rank 5th in google before my account was disabled, by just adding the keywords in the title, description and tags.

is it better to put in a lot of long tail keyword related to your term or just keep repeating your term over and over again?

Here's on thing i know for sure after months of research. No body is saying fro sure that I can find what to do to acheive high ranking with your YT vid

Ranking in Google via a Youtube video works because of the level of Trust and Link Popularity that the Youtube Domain has accrued.

How well this trick work depends on how aggressive your competitors are in their own SEO Efforts, how saturated the niche is, and how well you utilize optimization factors when creating your content on Youtube.

One thing i can say there are people that know and they are the ones ranking high in youtube but no way in hell are they telling anyone how they do it. So its off to the forums to find out yes?

Hi folks,

I am new here and this is my first post. I have been looking for some stuff on backlinks, etc. I saw this post and decided to join and reply. I hope it's helpful

I posted a video on youtube and have a high google rank. Here is how I did it.

After making the video, I chose my keywords and then went and wrote an article on a web site called articlejockey.com That's a place that you go an write an article and it tests your keywords, tells you to add more, etc for good SEO ranking. It's FREE unless you use the article spinner. You get 5 free spins and then you have to pay $1 per spin. It also generates SERPS and keeps track of your weight on all keywords with ajax so it's real time.

Personally, I think the spinner is worthless so I never use it and so it's free that way.

So, now you have a good keyword weighted article. About 200 - 300 words.

Now upload your video to youtube and place that article in the description of the video and then go bookmark at the following sites:
Delicious, Digg, Propeller, StumbleUpon, clipclip and Twitter.

When you bookmark make sure you use your long tail keyphrase at least 2 times and make sure one of those is in the link text.

You can get decent placement depending on the competition of your keyword.

I ordered Instant Article Wizard Pro and it's a real piece of crap. Never use it. That's what my video was about. I got mad because it didn't work and the guy wouldn't refund me, even though there was a 100% guarantee so I made a video of how crappy it is and posted it.

You can see my SEO results here:

Phrase Match: Number 1 and 2

Broad Match: Number 2 and 3

I actually made it to those ranks using the article jockey and not the IAW pro piece of junk. I told him he should refund me and it was only $7 but it was the point that he is ripping people off left and right so I told him this would happen if he didn't refund me. :)

Keep in mind I used the word "writer" instead of "wizard" but that's just in the listings. The video says "wizard". I have been working on far more important stuff to do another with the exact match.

Hope this help a little
