I am reading a blog, in which it says that WordPress automatically adds the rel="noreferrer" attribute to the external links which we choose to open in a new tab. It prevents the target website to see, where the traffic is coming from. As in Google Analytics, that link traffic will appear as "direct traffic" and not as referral traffic.
My question is: If I am linking to a blog, I would like the other webmaster to know that I am linking to their source. This increases the chances to get a link back from them.
What do you guys do in this case? The simple solution however for this is, simply do not open external links in a new tab but in the same tab.
This is not possible, as the user will leave out the website. And in blogs like review blogs or the one in which I am referring a tool, I want them to be open in a new tab.
