I created a blog in tech niche. I was still looking for traffic.

I decided to do my first post on HackerNews. Before this, I didn't post a single on HackerNews. And didn't know much about that.

I made a small post with link of blog post. After some minutes of posting, I noticed my Google Analytics, I was shocked. I saw 40+ real-time visitors.

I checked and saw that my post is on the front page. I do not remember for sure, but my post was in the listings between 15 and 20, and a few mins after that, 80+ real-time visitors. I was checking again and again how many visitors are there right now.

In total I received 1,000+ visitors within few hours. So I think Hackernews is a good platform for tech blog readers. If you are looking for some traffic for your blog do try hackernews.

How many times can you keyword stuff hackernews into one post?

I've got front page on hacker news before. You get 200 low quality links to your site. The site has a public API and people mirror it. Whilst the link on hacker news is nofollow a lot of the mirrors don't bother with that bit. I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing.
