My First Blogging Journey!

Weekly Update

Not much difference in rankings to before, so nothing to mention there.

Backlink update

Up to 43 backlinks. All manual

Articles Update

5 new articles since my last update. Still waiting for them to rank.

Summary

No real change in how the blog is going. I've been offered an internship which starts in July, this might reduce my ability to work on the blog. Will narrow my focus on articles and that's it. The blog helped me get the internship actually - had a great answer when they asked if I had done anything during lockdown!

More irregular updates. DId warn you all! Still going strong though, the same amount of effort as always.

Weekly Update

The main update is that over the past month I have had 23 clicks and 9k impressions, which is fairly decent. It shows a continuous increase on past months. Small decrease this week in visibility but I expect that it will bounce back.

Backlink Update

96 backlinks now. Authority score on semrush is up to 11. Going to leave backlinks alone for the foreseeable future and focus on content. The most exciting update is that I now have a backlink from the primary subreddit for my niche which has 10k+ subscribers. It had a dead link so I asked if they could replace it with mine and it worked. It's only on the old.reddit version but I suspect it will update eventually. Free traffic plus a reddit ******** link.

Articles Update

52 published articles. All of which are 1k-1.5k words. An article is being published every other day right now. Most of them rank in the top 20-30 with the keyword on around 70% difficulty, which is fairly decent. I have a lovely template that I am using and it takes around an hour to write an article.

Summary

Clear upward trajectory from the last update and things are going well. The eBay store is offering me more short-term returns which allows me to focus on building content on here. Internship starting in 3 weeks time, can write an article during my 1-hour break. I'm hoping that a lot of my competitors sell their sites or quit due to the amazon affiliate problems. One of my competitors is already getting a broken site. Getting around a click a day right now.

What kind of links are you building with this kind of velocity?

Seems a bit risky.

The reddit move was a nice touch, the clickthrough traffic + high authority platform will move the needle quite a bit.

Had the same experience bump from another forum (though it got deleted though.)

I would suggest you read other people journey you can learn alot such as
1) Hosting
2) PBN
3) CDN
4) Domain Name
5) Backlinks etc...

Quick Update

Not used to getting this many replies. Thanks guys :). Got a few plans in terms of social media for the blog, although I wasn't going to think about that until I hit 100 articles. There's plenty of Facebook groups around the niche, as you can imagine considering it's a pet niche. Thinking about setting up one so I can advertise the blog at various avenues. Noticed that a few of my competitors did the same, although they are no longer active.

Good luck with your journey!

Thank you!

It's a real mixture of blog comments related to the niche, blog comments unrelated to the niche and Wikia links. The primary purpose of the Wikia links is to provide tiny bits of traffic though as they are NF links. I completely agree that it was overzealous to put so many in so fast, I got a bit impatient. The comments happened 2 weeks ago and I've seen no negative direction so hopefully, it will be okay although I don't really know how it works. Really didn't think the reddit move would work! I guess Reddit mods don't want to spend their time trying to find the best niche blogs to put on the sidebar. I'm hopeful that it won't get deleted as the previous broken link was there for a year.

I wish you all the best in your journey, keep us inform of how it goes

Thanks!

Right now it's content content content for me. Hosting through hostinger and I don't want to do any serious black hat stuff unless I've decided that the income school philosophy doesn't really work. Thank you though! :)

Update

Well it's almost been a month and everything is going very well

Content Update

Currently have 65 articles published. I'm making around 1 every other day due to time constraints. All around 1k-1.5k. They now follow a set template which means that they are normally all written in around 1 hour to 1h 30 mins.

Backlink Update

Been ignoring backlinks right now as I have other stuff to do. So still 92 backlinks, the reddit ones have really helped.

Visitor updates

Obviously the most important section! Here's some stats for the last month.

As you can see, there's been some great improvements. We haven't had zero clicks in one day since my last update. There's certain articles that obviously do better than others and I'm going to analyse those to see what I can learn.

Conclusion

So it has been going well, and it really takes up no time at all. I won't do any backlink buying until I am completely happy with the site, it's a long term progress and money really is my secondary goal with all this. It has already helped me get a prestigous internship so... I'm going to keep working on the site and update you all next time I remember.

It's been a while, lads! My internship has been going very well, and previous interns have gone onto very good graduate schemes. So I've had less time for the blog. However, the blog has been going very well!

Content Update

88 articles published! As you can tell, I've not been able to do 1 a day. This is because of a constraint in time that has occurred over the past few months. Plus, I'm beginning to run out of topics!

Backlink Updates

Have completely ignored backlinks. However, I currently have 117 backlinks, as I am beginning to get organic backlinks from other sources. I'm hoping that these backlinks will continue to organically grow as we go on!

Visitor Updates

It's been going a little bit crazy. Here's what Google Analytics is telling me:

What an increase. I acquired 50 vistors a day yesterday, which was a new milestone. Wordpress Popular Posts says that I have had 3.4k views this month, however I don't really trust it. I don't trust the bounce rate currently, as many people just go for the single page as this is what I currently want to happen.

Thoughts

Well it's been going well! Patience makes perfect, and I have a site that is growing and growing! I intend to continue this slow growth, and perhaps begin to build a real social media presence around it. I have a decent amount of money from other ventures, so money is again not required right now. I just want a good site.

Welcome to any suggestions!

Those numbers look encouraging. Blogging is a long-term game for sure. The key is to set up the right targets from the get go.

Feeling like I'm getting to a point where I can begin trying to monetize the site. Any thoughts? Really has exeeded my expectations so far.

Beginning to create more articles as I am motivated by this increase in traffic. Hoping to get to 300 visits a day by February 2021. At that point, I will begin looking into Adsense and other streams of revenue.

Big Update

Okay, going to give a full brief on the current state of affairs with the website. I have a lot more time for research now, as my institution gives free Christmas holidays from now until early January (perks of not being american)

Article Update

Hit the 100 mark. Slowed down the writings to a trickle due to work commitments but I have begun ramping it up to once every other day. Each article ranks fairly quickly in the 5-20 area, and increases in rank as time goes on. There's still plenty of topics to do articles on, and I haven't even begun theorizing money articles.

Backlink Update

Clearly my website is popular enough to begin spawning its own backlinks. I have 422 backlinks, most of which I did not get myself. It's not affecting my page rankings, so I don't really care. I am disinterested in buying backlinks at this time, as I only intend to invest in the site with money that I make with it. This has been a constant in my philosophy online, and I have applied it to my Ebay dropshipping which has been a success (£1000 profit so far). I have around £17k in the bank currently, but this must be spent on a house deposit at some point and I have no intention to spend it on backlinks.

Page Stats

Continues to increase. We had a big boost on a certain day due it being vaguely related to my niche, and this has driven a big increase.

As you can see, the site is doing well. Beyond my wildest expectations. These stats run contrary to SEMrush, which currently put me at around 5.6k search traffic a month. I think these numbers will move closer to each other by next month. I am confident that I can begin researching ways to make money from the blog now.

Thoughts for the future in relations to money

So. Things are going well. My visitors are almost all from tier 1 countries, so I am beginning research in adsense. Adsense calculator predicts that I would earn around $750 per year if I was to begin adverts now. I would be very happy with this, especially when the site is relatively new. I am also considering affiliate links, but my site may not be strong enough to compete with the big sites yet. Any money that I earn from Adsense will go into content creation and potentially backlinks in the future.

Goals

I think the sky is the limit for this niche. Especially when 90% of traffic comes from Google and we don't have a social media presence. Therefore, my 'new years resolutions' are as follows:
- Begin a real social media presence
- Get to 10k users a month by the 1 year anniversary of the site. (this goal may change by the new year, depending on how the stats change)
- Begin monetization and research how much money I get
- Write one article every two days.

If I follow these goals. I think that the site will continue to be successful. I welcome any advice from veterans in this area. I hope that eventually, this journey becomes an inspiration for others, just as I looked for inspiration early this year.

All the best.. God bless you.!

Thanks! God bless you as well.

Update

Big day today. I have applied for Adsense! Started with a small amount of ads as I want to keep the user experience. Will update when I make my first pennies!

Added another post today.

Have checked to see what posts get the most views, they are spread out across many articles which is good
