Due to demand from the forum suggestions and feedback section, we’ve released some functionality that will allow sellers to reply to their customers regularly, without bumping their marketplace threads more frequently than the rules allow.
We’re always on the lookout for ways to keep our members safe, while making it as easy as possible for our sellers to provide the very best service to BHW buyers. It has become clear that our current rules (one promotional post every 72 hours, with customer replies allowed every 24 hours) left a little too much room for error. So, we’ve taken action.
You can now reply to your marketplace threads whenever a customer asks a question, but it will only be bumped in the thread listings if 24 hours have elapsed since your last post. So, you can keep up to date on your customer replies, but you won't get any extra visibility for doing so. Essentially, we're making it simpler for sellers to engage with buyers and helping buyers get quicker replies, while maintaining the rules that are already in place.
It's worth noting that if a customer posts on your thread at any point, it will still be bumped. The bump limitation only applies to the OP. One final thing: even with this new add-on, you should still use the multi-quote feature and reply to as many customers at once as possible to avoid saturating your thread. This provides a better experience for the users and we’ve found helps with getting your sales message across.
Let me show you how with this video.
For this example, we're looking at a test sales thread created by Deleted member 923340. Let me just be clear: this is not a real thread, it is purely for demonstration purposes, we are not advertising any sales threads.
At the start of the video, the thread is quite far down in the listings because it's been a while since anyone posted in it. When the demo post is published, the thread moves up the listings and sits directly beneath the sticky threads, because it’s the thread with the most recent activity.
When we go into the thread to post again, we get this message that appears above the reply box: ‘Your post will not bump the thread. You can bump your thread again in XX minutes’. Only the OP can see this message.
Until the timer resets, anything posted by the OP in this thread will not bump it up in the thread listings. Customer posts will still bump your thread as usual.
