It looks like that. Some domains do have some potential and can be developed in the way new owner wants.
That is the main idea. I'm pretty sure such kind of domain names are bought in order to be developed in time by new owners. And if someone wants to buy such domain names means there is a market for such domains.

Have some of them, but don't know much about domaining and if they have any value compared to .com/.net, etc.

Congrats! did you snatch it off an auction or after complete expiration. .com domains are usually $10.

I usually put it up in all those platforms, and post it regularly in FB groups that related to startups, domain selling ones. It works usually.
