Need advice on engagement groups?

I am a travel blogger and have a travel account on Instagram and was wondering if doing shoutouts and being in engagement groups are still good to do or not.

if they are still good than does anyone knows any travel accounts that will get more lots of followers from shoutouts.

Also, does anyone know any good engagement group that saves and likes your photos and also comments

Then contacts the owner and ask for a shoutout.

Engagement groups are not worth in the long run.And I think ads are more better than shoutout from my personal experience.
It gives more followers and engagement.Though you never know how much will you gain with a shoutout but there is always a guarantee when you run ads provided your page and content is on point.

I did that like 3 years ago to an account with over 100k followers it was a repost account and got like 3 followers back some big accounts engagement rate is bad.
