Hi guys, I've noticed something, when publishing new app and drive traffic to it with paid ads (Google Ads Or Any source) The app enter to ghost range in google, what does mean that ? It mean the app won't be ranked when you stop driven installs to it and it will be listed unranked all the time.

And I did a test to know that with lot of apps the same result, I think they seen that as spam way to get ranked quickly .

So I decided to publish new app without driven any install to it, it started sloooowly for about one month just 100 install hahaha and then takes new way and ranked in many keywords !

So this is my little experience hope you can engage in comments with your own experience these days because rank in google is getting fucked from the begin of 2019 till now all things are miss in google not like before 2019

Commenting because interested.

Experiencing the same ... Everything started very slow and then start to grow steadily . I was thinking that ASO is dead competently but in my example isn't and that's good.

ASO should work still but definitely all depends on niches .

Yes its still working but what I noticed is you have to use ASO only without ADS at first and after the app ranked then you can use paid ads,
But if you published new app and start from day 1 to drive installs trust me it won't be ranked forever

So now paying for keyword installs +reviews on start is not recommended?

I published my game on play store 3 weeks ago and I still have 0 downloads lol; have no money to do ads so I have no idea what should I do to get some installs. I'm working on a new game maybe it will be better

Is it indexed?

hello @vinchenson. I'm sorry but I don't know what that means lol. I'm new to this, first game ever I publish and all. I just upload it on the store, it took a week or so for google to accept it and that was it.

So let me be clear you drove paid traffic to the app and now it's started getting installs?

Used Google ads?

I am experimenting the same stuff. Bookmarking this post. Will comeback with the results by 30th June 2020.

do you have any technic or strategy to have low CPI using ad words or FB ads ? thanks.

O yeah ... its smarter to don't drive paid installs at beginning . G love natural grow . And I only wish to forget 2019 , last quartet, I was epic mess with rankings and AI algorithmic chaos.

update2 - about my new apps:

Between Thursday and Friday was some weird "ranking lose " , all new apps disappeared from store , they got back on Saturday . Still slow but steady growing :)

@caius-julius-caesar

Maybe its saturated game - niche . Did you research keywords and worked on ASO for your app ?

@MofAges it is indeed a saturated game niche - endless platformer. But I think all game niches are kinda saturated nowadays, right? As for your question, I didn't do ASO - I just write a simple description like ''press button to jump, don't die, success'' lol. I saw the creator of flappy birds always use very short description for his games

I'll be publishing an app in coming weeks, so I think I need this

Then do ASO bro , it's still worth it , more because its saturated niche .. but to be honest which niches isn't these days ? :D
ASO can help you to rank with other keywords and phrases . Do research , look on description of top competitors.

Are you targeting a specific low competition keyword or just uploading blindly?

There's definitely a "sandbox" mode on Google Play Store (like Google SERPs) which last about a month, at least for my two apps I uploaded a while back.

@Stackz in which niche are your apps ? If I may ask .
Mine was in entertainment niche mostly , but all apps was sandbox-ed for first week then get hit first installs , still don't rank for all keywords , only for app titles .

@Stackz I just uploaded blindly. It's my first experience with Google Play, I never did this before so I'm completely noob.

@MofAges thanks bro, I will definitely try ASO on the next game; just that I'm new to this and I need to understand how exactly all this ASO works; I also have no money now so I can't use sites like sensor tower and appannie.

In my 5 years I never used paid traffic... Just pure aso.

Last month may 3 I uploaded new app, now I have 5,000+ installs, active 700+. From this month 3 day I started getting 460+ daily installs. What I done only added few times app link in reddit.
