YouTube Q&A [AMA]

1. how often do you post videos?
2. as per your suggestion, if we try and copy a bigger Channel in the same niche, find content which is evergreen and 'could' go viral. There will always be more prominent channels with lots of views on the search page, what different approach do you suggest to outrank them?
3. Once we come up with a topic, title, what the best way to do content research on the matter?

Thanks for your time

How to protect game hack videos from getting mass flagged by your competitors? Please don't tell me this can't be done. Because i came across many channels which create game hack videos and the video is not taken down even if we flag them.

One of our clients recently acquired an account and changed the Adsense account. I spoke with them as they need some support with SEO. I just found out they had used a Gmail that was also linked to a previously banned/suspend YouTube account. Strange thing is it shows a (suspended account) via a menu drop down yet their account is still in tact.

It's worth mentioning they did not access the said banned account with their own IP/cookies it was always a dedicated proxy so no footprints left besides the email. Will they end up banned now? and will YouTube trace this back or would they only do so via IP's and so on?

Thanks

Thank you for doing this ama :)
I want to start a YT channel where I produce my own content (how to videos et cetera)
I have a few questions if you don't mind ;)
  1. If you buy a monetized or old channel, do you delete all the old video's that already have views on them?
  2. Favorite software for editing and thumbnails (adobe or gimp + davinci resolve/blender/sony vegas/hitfilm/.....)
  3. Sweetspot for uploads per week for a new channel (in general: quality over quantity or the other way around for a brand new channel)
  4. Clickbait/clickworthy? I read your answer saying that engagement is engagement, dislikes aren't that bad.
  5. Big question I have: where do I learn more about copyright claims et cetera and how can I check who owns right for the content et cetera? Is that even necessary? Should I just not use clips from content that is not mine at all to start off with? That side of YT is scary and confusing to me.
  6. Is buying a monetized channel better than buying requirements from SMM panels?
  7. What are your thoughts on the future of YouTube?
  8. Are you planning on selling a course in the future teaching things that you know from your experience. If you sell it here through a BST then count me in :p
  9. Do you think starting a team of freelancers who produce videos for you is a good way to start? I assume I want to build up a few channels and learn a lot about YT before I start outsourcing.
  10. I have bought an aged channel from 2006 with 44 subs, 10k views (from 2006), do you think this will help a bit in ranking or not? I plan on scaling with monetized channels in the future if things go well.
  11. Is there an editing software that can run on an absolute potato PC? I am using sony vegas pro free trial now and it's alright. I will buy a solid workstation in a few months when I can work.
  12. How do you prevent getting demonetized? Do you avoid certain words and bleep swear words?
  13. Is there anything you can do to protect yourself from these sh!tty companies who copyright strike for fun to take your money.

Thanks for sharing valuable insight on monetizing and sustaining a YouTube channel...much appreciated. I do have a couple questions I did not see asked so here they are:

We have a channel (7 years old started posting vids almost 1 year ago) with over 60+ videos all our own content no copyright issues. We have the sub count but 400 hours away from monetization. We bought most subs and view times using RAV views but some are bot high retention views. Once we hit monetization minimum requirements what are chances we get approved? If we get approved we want to immediately change the channel name, content and direction of channel with new videos. We want to turn the current videos private or unlisted once monetized so new organic subs and views don't see them. In fact we want to remove them but won't until its safe to do so. If we get monetized is this possible without YT cancelling our monetization for the new videos because turning the old videos into private or unlisted might take away our hours for monetization? Everything will be organic after monetization. We might have to prop up the sub account to stay above 1k if any are lost as a result of privatizing the old videos but most subs are bought anyways.

In a nutshell, once monetized using mostly bought RAV views (some bots) and subs, can we immediately post new name of channel (keep same email and password) and turn old videos private and stay monetized for the channel and the new videos which will be totally unrelated to the new videos and channel content focus? All new subs and views will be organic.

Thank you.

Can short videos (4 mins and under) still go viral in 2020?

i think yes yes, but even if they did, there's less ads on them. Speaking from a strictly adsense monetization route- i think we can all agree that a 10 min viral video would make more money than a 4 min viral video though.

1. how often do you post videos?
2. as per your suggestion, if we try and copy a bigger Channel in the same niche, find content which is evergreen and 'could' go viral. There will always be more prominent channels with lots of views on the search page, what different approach do you suggest to outrank them?
3. Once we come up with a topic, title, what the best way to do content research on the matter?

Thanks for your time

1. No set standard, just as long as Im consistent (i.e. twice a week, sometimes 3 times a week)
2. So to go viral, your views will come from suggested views mostly. To appear in suggested, use similar SEO to your "inspiration" video. With that being said though, to rank higher than my competition, I aim for a better thumbnail, longer video, and hopefully better CTR and watch time.
3. Whatever your topic/ title is i simply just find articles through google search

How to protect game hack videos from getting mass flagged by your competitors? Please don't tell me this can't be done. Because i came across many channels which create game hack videos and the video is not taken down even if we flag them.

This is honestly a question i cannot answer based one experience or research, sorry!

One of our clients recently acquired an account and changed the Adsense account. I spoke with them as they need some support with SEO. I can't say for certainty this question either, but i would probably cut all ties to that previously banned/ suspended youtube account even if that means using the same gmail as it. this is just to be in the safe side. I imagine that what your client did to get banned- i hope he isnt doing it on the newly acquired account as well.

What's your process for hiring content creators

I haven't hired anyone in a while now. I have found most of my team off upwork though.

Some criteria that automatically warrants an interview is if:
1) theyve created youtube scripts before
2) theyve created youtube videos before
3) theyve voiced videos before.

The criteria can be however you want it to be honestly.

Thank you for doing this ama :)

Oh boy, that's a lot of questions!:) happy to help!

1) I dont delete videos until my organic videos that ive uploaded exceed the old videos' watchtime+ number.
2) I use final cut pro X + photoshop:)
3) for brand new channels it's gotta be both... sorry to say. You can't have one without the other. For new channels I do stick to posting 3/week though quality videos.
4) Clickbait/ clickworthy indeed. Dislikes= engagement. I stand by this 100%
5) Here you go: https://www.copyright.gov/fair-use/more-info.html
6) i think they both have their plus sides and down sides. Once you buy from a source though, think of that as you "trying" them out. I bought mine from a guy here on BHW. His channel his been fine for a couple of months now. he is now my go to monetization guy:)
7) YouTube is a blue chip:) But like Amazon, youre at the mercy of youtube. So while growing your youtube channel, work on getting off it as well or supplementing it.
8) I do have a course, but i dont think you're allowed to sell it here on BHW i think. No paid mentoring allowed unfortunately and I do 100% always want to stick to BHW rules.
9) Yup! 100% i would have never been able tos cale without my team of freelancers who a lot of whom I've been working with for over a year now.
10 Not the views or subs, but probably the age will help.
11) I have stayed away from windows for a very long time, so this isnt exactly my forte since im an FCPX user.
12) My writers follow an SOP that basically outlines YouTube's content policies to avoid infringing. It all comes down to the writers to make sure that your channeld oesnt get demonetized since they're the foundation for your video.
13) I've been working with people and doing this myself now since december of 2018, i've never had this occur to me so it's hard to say.

Good luck my friend, take action.

So if you have adsense account already, you should be fine. Most likely you will get approved for YPP (YouTube partnership program). Once you get approved though, here is the criteria I always follow:
1) Keep videos that you applied with as public until more than 10 new videos are posted.
2. dont change primary owner for another 6 months
3. NEVER turn on monetization for the watch hours video
4. Dont change passwords
5. dont change emails
6. It’s OKAY to monetize new videos on the channel that i post

I would remove your old videos when you organically pass 4k watch hours and have 10+ videos NEWLY uploaded.

Let me know if this answers your question or not because i have copy and pasted this answer before.

HOW TO GET IN LINE WITH FAIR USE ?
When commenting other people stuff , are they any rules like :

-Do not put someone’s clip for more than 1 minute without commenting

-Always have to put some stock footage to license your video

How can I show to youtube that I add educational values ?

Hi OP, first of all thank you for doing this. :)

Can I get banned or shadowbanned if I post 50 comments a day on other's videos to promote my channel? I would post different custom messages reacting to each video and just add a call to action at the end of my comment like "btw my last video can help you with xxx".

Can this raise flags?

First , thank you so much for helping people with not only answers , but also the newest updates , Big up !

I have some little questions , i have just started a Cooking channel to my wife ( created 19 april )

Now i'm about 160 subs , and 2K Videos watchs , i use SEO from my competitors and all , tags and everythings is OK .

Q: I want to buy some SMM watchtime & subs to complete what i need to monetize channel , do you recommend do this now or i have to wait ?

Q : also i'm planning to use some google ads to promote video , instagram , Facebook ads , what do is your advice ?

Thank you so much again !

Problem is as you said:
dont change primary owner for another 6 months

They have only owned the account for a week now, if they remove their Gmail it will likely cause issues.

Thanks for providing as with lots of useful information! I'm trying to get accounts monetized but the price of the 4000 watch hours seems very expensive! Is there a reasonable pay for watch hours service that I'm not seeing somewhere?

So
1) Does youtube aged account with videos rank bettter? How old has to be the youtube account for them to rank better (2005 or 2010s 0r 2015?)? (have you test any). Could you share your tests experience with youtube aged accounts were they really good. Please be little detailed with your Aged and non aged experiements.

1. how much does paid watch hour plus subscriber will cost?
2. can videos 1-2mins long has a chance to rank or be viral?
3. does vidq video tags for you? would you reccomend a paid version of this?

i tried buying views for a new vid, but during the views were delivered. My ranked video tags goes down or been removed. do you have any experience like this?

How can I show to youtube that I add educational values ?

- I do no more than 5-15 seconds.

- Im not sure what you mean by this second bullet.

- Sorry to say, but you simply add "educational value" You teach someone something.

Hi OP, first of all thank you for doing this. :)

Im not sure about shadowbanned but posting comments as spam is definitely against youtube policies. The way you put it though, it doesnt really sound like youd be spamming so youd be fine.

Commenting on videos to gain subs or views is a harder route to go though. Rather than spend time doing that, i would rather just create another quality optimized video.

So you're in the personal channel route! I've got a lot to say about this.

1) With a personal channel, especially cooking, your main method of monetization shouldnt be adsense. So dont be so worried about getting monetized. I know guys who arent even monetized who make BANK off youtube. My recommendation for you would be to SELL YOUR OWN DIGITAL PRODUCT or input AFFILIATE LINKS. (i.e. sell a recipe book for weight loss using only smoothies OR input all your cooking materials as affiliate links from amazon walmart target etc.).
2) If you created the channel on april 19, and it's already at 160 subs and 2k views watch time, i feel youre upwardly trending. keep doing what youre doing, it takes time to grow. Often people want to expedite their growth exponentially but especially with a personal channel like that, I would stay away from BH methods. Getting your videos monetized through YPP is gonna be mere pennies compared to if you were to make 1 sale off your $50 digital product.

Thanks for providing as with lots of useful information! I'm trying to get accounts monetized but the price of the 4000 watch hours seems very expensive! Is there a reasonable pay for watch hours service that I'm not seeing somewhere?

Hey check the marketplace. They're there. I usually pay anywhere from $300-$400 for the FULL monetization process (so subs+ watch time)

So
1) Does youtube aged account with videos rank bettter? How old has to be the youtube account for them to rank better (2005 or 2010s 0r 2015?)? (have you test any). Could you share your tests experience with youtube aged accounts were they really good. Please be little detailed with your Aged and non aged experiements.

1) It doesn't have to be aged. I havent tested this. I aim for monetized channels though which in turn, are usualyl aged.

1. how much does paid watch hour plus subscriber will cost?
2. can videos 1-2mins long has a chance to rank or be viral?
3. does vidq video tags for you? would you reccomend a paid version of this?

i tried buying views for a new vid, but during the views were delivered. My ranked video tags goes down or been removed. do you have any experience like this?

1) usually 300-400 for me.
2) sure can there's a lot of factors in paly though.
3) I do use the paid version as im partnered with VidIQ and tubebuddy. If you want a discount, just PM me and i have my own personal discount code (disclaimer it WOULD be an affiliate link also)
4) So i never bought views for a new video. I always go 100% organic. The only time i buy views are for increasing watch time to apply for monetization.

I am thinking making videos by different freelancers from different freelancing sites so in this case the voice, person and other relevant things may not be the same all the times and it also related with a huge cost (I am thinking that this invest will bring a regular profit in future)

So if I can get the assurance that my video will not get a copyright strike then I might take the investment risk

So how do I make things sure before post the video? Is there any way to submit the video in YouTube to get a pre copyright credit? Or any other cheap option...? Or should i take a normal NDA from the freelancer?

Any suggestions please... :/

Oh 100% this can be done.

When you upload your video to youtube, upload it as UNLISTED or PRIVATE, wait 1-3 days, and see if any copyright notifications come up. if they do, then simply replace the footage/ audio that's copyrighted.

This is what I call a copyright check. If a copyright notification DOES come up, it wont be a strike against your channel; it will just be a friendly notification.

Thanks :) But if the original creator (freelancer) try to claim it in future ?!!!!
