if it would be highly necessary like fb.com than should buy.

so buying a domain is not important. marketing the site is important.

Absolutely! It depends on how popular the word(s) in the domain name is, but yes. Some domains were sold for well over $1M in past, even more than $10M - yes, just domain names, not websites or whole businesses. We're talking about .com domains mainly, but if the domain is 1-word name that is ridiculously popular, like sex, money, weather, business, etc. then some of the tlds are surely worth $1M too.

There is domain imarkzuckerberg.com and it was priced for 100000$.
The price for this one is taken out of thin air. Unless the domain is ranked high in search engines and receives a huge amount of traffic, then maybe.

One guy bought CBD.com because his ecommerce store is named ChristianBookDistributor.com or something similar. Imagine his reaction when the term CBD became popular. Probably worth a few million dollars

I'm not a domain expert, even though I sold quite a few one-word.CO domains in the past for about $1500 each on average. But, I wouldn't pay $100K for imarkzuckerberg.com even if I was a millionaire.

The asking price doesn't mean much. So to answer your question, yes people will buy 1M$ domains.

The real question is: Is it worth it? A lot of domains are making a good amount of money just by placing ads on the domains, without any content, because people are typing the url directly in the browser. You can try asking for those numbers to figure out if it's worth it.
