All sorted. Import of posts is complete as planned. One of my posts is 30th in the rankings which is fine, considering we have much more work ahead of us

Day 21
The return to writing posts. Wrote a post for a pretty decent KWD today and got Google to manually crawl it because I am very inpatient.
Finally installed a good caching plugin thanks to Mr @Festinger and his vault. Page loads up like a breeze.
Doing a coronavirus clinical trial on Monday, in for 5 days. Will give me a lot of time to write blog posts hopefully!
Plans for tomorrow
It's my flatmates birthday so I might be too busy to write a post. At least do the keyword research and have a clear plan
The return to writing posts. Wrote a post for a pretty decent KWD today and got Google to manually crawl it because I am very inpatient.
Finally installed a good caching plugin thanks to Mr @Festinger and his vault. Page loads up like a breeze.

Ended up writing the post. Should be able to hit a few low volume low competition keywords with that. Going for the classic "Can ____ eat *insert food here*" searches. All below 100 volume but some of the foods don't have much competition. There's articles on cabbage, for instance, but people search for savoy cabbage and none of the competitors mention it. Hopefully will be an easy rank.

Realised quickly that it is infeasible to write a food article for every food that exists. So I'm making some mega-guides that will contain all of the keywords. Fruit, vegetables etc. Started writing that today.

Been very busy today. Just had time to final looking over my articles before writing more. My keywords are pretty much exactly the same rankings as before right now. Although google hasn't indexed a few of the articles.

Domain Authority - Zero.

I'm placing updates on this journey on hold.
The reasons for this are fourfold:
Day 28
Was analysing backlinks of my competitors and I noticed that they are a house of cards. The backlinks may look intimidating but half of them are from one domain with a low authority score. Found a little trick which I will share (so you can tell me if it works or not, primarily.) There's a lot of sites on the internet where you can report phone numbers for spam etc, these websites aren't usually moderated and for some reason, have a decently high authority score. So I've been putting my link on a few of the websites to monitor response time from the admins. Was analysing another niche and noticed that one of the authority sites did it so I followed their lead.
That's me signing off for the month! Wish me luck.
The reasons for this are fourfold:
- I need to avoid BHW for the next month. The making money forum keeps distracting me from the task at hand, which is writing content
- The journey updates are hardly inspiring. If I update for the next month, all you are getting is "wrote an article" content. Not interesting
- Journey updates help towards procrastination, I'm writing this instead of my next blog
- Exams. BHW distracts me from revision

Not resuming daily updates yet because again, it's just content writing. However, I thought I'd share how the google update has impacted my site

Adsense and niche related offers. Might reach out to a few companies, but that will all be in a year or so time I imagine. If ever.

Another little tip for anyone, quite specific though!
I'm currently dropshipping many products in my niche on Ebay. When I send the 'thank you for ordering' note, I simply include my blog in the message. It's not building backlinks but one interested visitor can lead to social shares etc. Every little helps and you can simply include it in your messaging template.
It also builds the legitimacy of your dropshipping brand! I appreciate that this will only help a tiny minority, but I think it's a clever little thing to do!
Still writing. Some promising things for the June update though.

JUNE UPDATE
Well, I made it to June. I had a few moments where I flagged but I'm in too deep now, lot of time wasted if I quit now!
Google Search Console Update
Decent numbers on GSC, considering that I have only really just started.
The low click rate reflects my current position in the SERPS, I expect it will change often.
Ranking Update
Clear results on Semrush as far as I am concerned.
The 21-100 rankings are irrelevant. They were going to increase as I wrote articles, inevitable. However, the increase in 4-20 rankings is helpful, especially when I haven't really worked on backlinks. Gives me a lot of hope.
Articles update
I have written 36 articles for the blog so far. Each one averages out at about 1000 words each. I now have article templates for my various topics to keep uniformity. Takes me around an hour to write and publish the article thanks to this. Articles are all homemade and don't really rely on the content of other sites.
Backlink Update
I currently have 29 backlinks, 93% of them are follow. Have put minimal effort into this, only added in when I have had the chance. It's a mixture of blog comments and Wikia pages.
Plans for the next month
Keep writing articles. Keep getting backlinks where I can. I'm applying for a masters degree so I want to keep my costs low.
When will I next update? Unknown. Might be weekly main updates with little updates whenever I feel like something significant has occurred.
