Day 5

Yesterday I wrote my "about me" page and set myself up on google analytics. Began writing a much bigger article than I usually do which should have a lot more detail than my competitors.

Day 6 (today)

Going to finish writing the article and do keyword research for my next one. Hitting a steady pace now with my writings which is good.

Plans for tomorrow

Write my next article. Set up an Instagram page and start posting a different picture related to my niche everyday with the appropriate tags.

Feel like I should put a little tally of articles done so that I can keep disciplined on this front.

Day 7

Finished both of the articles that I planned. Purposefully made sure that they had greater details, hopefully that will start to organically build backlinks. Went on to SEMrush and filtered the keyword difficulty as below 70. Got some keywords that are around 70% so going to build a few info pages around that. I'd love some easier keywords but it's really hard to find some that have volume. Site still hasn't indexed but that isn't stopping me. Have also found a new article title to write on,

Back to the article writing grindstone. Also posting my first instagram picture. Then I'll research another long tail keyword.

Another article written. Also found some wikihow articles related to some of my guides that have out of date sources so I've used that as an excuse to sneak some backlinks in.

Plan for tomorrow

Write another article. Start building up the Instagram more, try and sneak a few more quality backlinks on sites like Fandom.com and Wikihow.

Another article written. Getting a bit annoyed with Wikihow, they had links that went to dead sites so I replaced them with my link which was relevant and it got reversed back to the old link. I get they want to stop easy linkbuilding but the other link was literally dead?

I'm hoping to get a proof of concept first by getting a bit of traffic. My competitors generally seem to use aff more than anything else, they have info pages about a certain product and then use it to funnel people onto aff links or pages that feature a lot of aff links. I'm currently running some articles that I think would be easy to rank and then finding ways to get some links in there to get people onto content such as "top ten best..." which will have links to all of the products.

Its a really good idea actually, we have to make it clear before go for monetizing... all the best for your blogging journey

Wikihow took down my link and replaced it with the bad link so I'm not quite sure. The admin basically said that I had to make a substantial contribution to the article in exchange for the citation

Day 10

Bit of a crazy day because everything has started to index and therefore SEMrush's competitor analysis is kicking into gear.



Not exactly the sort of thing I like to see. That's an horrific visibility rate compared to my main competitors. However, one of my articles is 39th for the keyword so hopefully that will begin to go up soon.

In terms of articles. I merged two articles together to form a really longtail article as this is what my competitior blogs had done. I'm hoping this will help it rocket up the rankings from 39th position. I also wrote a new article and published it so therefore my article counter is staying the same!

Also got my first backlink! It's a crappy nofollow backlink from fandoms wikia but it's something. SEMrush doesn't seem to be registering my other backlinks though, they are 100% posted in the comments of two blogs (i checked on different browsers and IP addresses) but semrush is giving me a crawl error which is annoying.

Bit of an update. Just realised the new amazon affilate update for commissions. It's got me a bit down as it's very unlikely that I make money from this venture anymore. I'm going to run it for 20 days more and spend less time working on the blog (hour a day max). After that I will see how I feel. If I don't feel that this blog will have a future making me money then I may shut it down, or at least downsize it. I'll get my money back from siteground (30 day guarantee) and go with a cheaper hosting provider etc. It's useful to learn SEO with it but in the end I want to make money lol.

Spent most of the day thinking about the blog and its potential and I've decided...

I'm going to stick to what I am learning. I might not make a single penny out of this site but I will learn valuable stuff about SEO that I can use later on in life. I ain't quitting, no matter what. I'm going to limit the amount of time I spend on the blog however, so I can begin to learn sports trading. But I'm not quitting this.

Wrote another article today.

Spent most of my allocated hour brainstorming ideas for the blog. Finally figured it out. Fuck Amazon. I've started successfully dropshipping so I'm just going to link people to products on my dropshipping account. I think Ebay will convert rather well and it helps my Ebay SEO rank. Sorted.

Apologies for the delays in posts. I've had to go to see some family over the last few days so I'm back on it again. Finished another post, just migrated host to a platform that was offering 50% cashback so grabbed that.

Migration didn't go well, site is offline but should be back up in the next hour. A decent authority site has offered to put my site on their page for £2 which ain't bad.

Like I said, migration didn't go well. Changed themes which messed everything up. Been spending the past two days fixing articles to make them not look dreadful. Wrote and published the 60% KWD article.
