Duplicate content - Legal pages

Hello,

I just ran a test on Copyscape and got as a result about 70-80% of duplicate content for the following pages:

- Privacy Policty
- Cookie policy
- Terms of use
- Disclosure

So i'm wondering should these pages be addressed or are they overlooked by google as an exception ?

If someone has actual experience and sure of the answer, please do let me know.

They are fine, it is the same for everyone. Personally, I try to use slightly different ones or change details so that they do not become a footprint which a competitor can find my network of sites... Just set them to noindex.

I have used this to uncover TONS of great money sites for me to rip off!

70% duplicate content in those pages those pages is not a big problem.
Many sites using the same type of TOS, policy pages. Just go on with out indexing

I often rewrite these pages and make them unique as much as possible. My current rate with Grammarly duplicate checker is about 10%.

Some of you recommended that i use noindex, however i have read a few times on different sources, that when google can't find your legal pages, it assumes that your business is not serious/legal, therefore it impacts it's ranking.

I just want to know if any of you is ranking and getting traffic with no problem while having highly duplicate content with these legal pages and indexing them on google.

When you tell the crawler something, that doesn`t mean he is not seeing it but just don`t index it, don`t overthink, it`s ok.

On the page, where you see your snippet preview, look for where it says Advanced, it is in the 1st drop down in that section.

Don't worry about those pages, most of them look like dups to most search engines, it's not like you're trying to rank them, it's important to have them but not in terms of ranking. Just make sure that your home page or inner pages you're trying to rank are unique and you'll be fine.

I read multiple times that if you noindex them that's a bad sign for Google. If it can't find legal pages, it assumes you're not a serious business, and behaves differently !

Since they are not hurting my SEO, then i think i will keep them indexed.

Google can see all your pages. No index just tells Google not to put them in the search index. There's really no reason you need your legal pages to show up in the SERPs.

But as you said, I can't think of a reason they would hurt your seo. So no harm either way.

Adding noindex tag on those pages doesnt tell googlebot to not look at them, it just doesnt get indexed on Google LOL

Expecting all websites to have unique content on legal pages is just bs. And you'd expect Google to think the same.

You're just fine leaving them as is. If still in doubt, go ahead and noindex, follow them.
