With the plugin Query Monitor installed, I noticed many of the plugins from Festingers vault call home.

Example:

Tbh I'm quite disappointed and somewhat troubled. I was under the impression that Deleted member 752298 does provide properly "configured" plugins.
For customers sitting in countries with strict laws this is rather worrying.


Here's how you can check if your plugins are affected:

1. Install and activate https://wordpress.org/plugins/query-monitor/

2. Go to the plugins page in your WP dashboard

3. Mouse over the query monitor figures in the top bar and click on HTTP API Calls like shown in the following screenshot:

4. Check the URL and Caller columns for Plugins you don't want to call home to the listed URLs

Have you installed the auto updater plugin? If so, the automatic updates plugin checks hourly for new updates using the plugin-updater query.
Not sure why you haven't submitted a support ticket in beforehand. I would have been to answer your question and take your troubles possibly away.

IMHO this is a major issue and I believe everybody has a right to be informed about this so they can check if they're affected.
At least I'd have loved to know this issue before I decided to install the plugins.

Not sure what troubles you could have taken away. The damage is already done and all the installed plugins already called home in the meantime. It's now just a matter of whether they care enough to take legal actions.

As I see it I'm left with 3 choices:

1. Uninstall the plugins
2. Buy a licence for each plugin
3. Live with the risk of getting sued

Regarding the auto updater: Does that mean that new updates of the plugins don't call home anymore?

I'm lucky to have bought the lifetime membership on black friday and i cannot be more satisfied with this service! I've already used a few plugins which would cost a lot more than the $99 fee. It's quite ingenious and what can i say.. please don't ever drop this service!
