Because you think you know everything when in fact it is the opposite.

I never said I knew everything so don't put words into my mouth. Ty.

With 67% of Americans obese, I think people should listen to the experts.

What the fuck does obesity have to do with anything?

But since most people are assholes who think they know better, law needs to come in and force it upon them.

But when the law gets in their fat ego's way, people make BS up to justify their ego.

You will be perfect in a government job. Restrictions on life are for nothing, but control. I understand basic laws such as stealing, murder, etc. But if you think YOU or ANYONE deserves to make simple decisions FOR ME then it's your ego that needs to be analyzed.

Well people should have freedom to a certain extent. I agree marijuana should be legalized since tobacco is. There should be a no public smoking law. If you're destroying your health, don't take mine with you... f**king low life public smokers.

Agreed.

But I don't agree with your seat belt statement. Do you realize a few fines can save your ass? That's a fact.

The problem I have with this is the fact that I am not given choice. They don't give a fuck about your life. They want to hand you another ticket when they pull you over and collect the cash. How can you be so blind to what goes on around you? Wake up!

I Would have to say other, I do not consider marijuana a drug...., But others do.......

Drugs yay or nay?

Goverment regulation yay or nay?

Marijuana is a drug. Don't believe me go smoke it in front of a cop and see how they treat you.

All of you people out there who don't do drugs need to get off your high horse and realize that the government has no business telling you what you can put in your body. That's the real issue here folks.

Your statement shows your lack of knowledge on the topic. Marijuana is simply produced by the same natural processes on earth that create all plant-life. People have to synthesize drugs like cocaine, heroin, etc. While drugs can have wonderful purposes such as treatment for whatever...my point is I don't feel something all natural should be regulated. If I can go out and smoke a pile of tulips without getting into trouble then why can't I smoke marijuana. I feel the same way about wearing seat belts. Why should I get a ticket for risking MY life? Some laws are broken. Period.

Here are some statements for you to mull over:

Cannabis is harmless when used on a sporadic basis, but becomes moderately mentally harmful to around 50% of users who take up a daily heavy skunk smoking habit - TRUE (I did this)

The drug THC, due to its molecular structure and interaction with the brain, has a small body-load and as a result seems to be less harmful on a per-use basis than other drugs such as cocaine and MDMA - TRUE

Cannabis is wholly beneficial for the user because it comes from an unadulterated plant source - COMPLETELY FALSE (wishful thinking from committed pot smokers)

Cannabis may be lighter and friendlier than other drugs, but this is not due to the basic, black and white, primitive distinction between "natural and non natural". It's due to the chemical building blocks of the drug - which could have potentially been synthesised. Sick and tired of this "mother nature knows best" bullcrap. It's all just molecules. The source has limited relevance.

All natural = all good is just a fashionable justification for repeat cannabis use (which I am neither for nor against) which is based on flawed reasoning. The plant source is not the cause of cannabis being a friendlier drug in small doses.

Remember, I used to smoke pot regularly. It's the reasoning here that I am against, not the drug.

The mad hatter ... niice ... i had some of it :)

NEVER GO FOR HEROIN .... NEVER NOT EVEN ONCE .. NOT EVEN FOR FREEE !!!

(bit dissappointed that you didn't ask me if I drink alcohol and ask if that is a drug or not!!!)

But do you drink coffee?
Tea?
Soda?
Enjoy chocolate?
Pop an aspirin?
Energy drinks?
Had a flu shot?

They're all drugs *yawn*

What any person chooses to put into their own body, is their own decision. Nobody elses.

Cocaine - Coca leaf dipped into gasoline and then nitric acid - man made
Heroin - The plant itself has no effects until its extracted and some synthesizing happens.

Weed/shrooms/cacti/Salvia is the only drug that you can take and use directly AKA no altering required. There is only a few plants that do that, and cocaine is not one of them.

Not entirely true. You can chew the coca leaf and get your dose of cocaine. You can consume the poppy pod and get your dose of morphine

Cannabis requires heat in order for the THC to be activated

Find a person that has died from smoking weed or tripping on acid, and I will suck you up.

a good friend i party a lot with in my youth died from lung cancer he got from smoking weed [did not smoke cigs]

he was in his mid 30's

so weed does KILL,

I have another friend that smoked everyday for 30 years with a 60 year old dad that smoked all his life, and both are healthy. So I am not saying it kills all, but for you to say it does not is crazy.

Cannabis requires heat in order for the THC to be activated

Thats totally not true, THC is an active natural drug, it becomes more active the dryer it gets. You can eat THC and get stoned, no flame needed.
The flame is what produces the nasty chemicals that give you lung cancer. Burning anything including cannabis with give off varied ammounts of bad chemicals. Thats why they cant say cannabis kills you because as a substance its pretty safe, but not when you set fire to it.

False. What harm came to you from this? If it unmotivated you then that's your own problem. I know plenty of people with a Masters Degree living professional lives while smoking it up whenever they want.

True.

The all natural argument only comes into play because we are restricted from something that simply grows on our planet. Everything is harmful in some way. Everything. I don't feel anyone should be able to tell me what to do with what mother nature provides. If the government banned roses from gardens would you not think it was stupid?

A few quotes from the material above.

The latest and best research on the subject comes from the world's leading expert on the subject, Dr. Donald Tashkin of UCLA. His latest research shows that marijuana smokers actually have slightly lower rates of lung cancer than those who do not smoke marijuana. One possible reason for this is that the active ingredient in marijuana, THC, actually has anti-tumor properties. It is known to kill a variety of malignant tumors.
There have been no reports of lung cancer related solely to marijuana, and in a large study presented to the American Thoracic Society in 2006, even heavy users of smoked marijuana were found not to have any increased risk of lung cancer.
Marijuana has medical value and can be take in the form of food, pills, smoke, or vaporized. Smoke is obviously not the safest method because tar build up, etc...but not the only one either. So although the smoke contains irritants just like tobacco you DON'T HAVE to smoke it to achieve the same effects.

I said nothing about a flame. I said heat.

THC does not get more active the dryer it gets. It gets more active the hotter it is. Vaporizing or cooking with cannabis still uses heat. Applying heat to cannabis does change the THC content. A large proportion of THC is converted to a oxidated acid form (THC-COOH), heating decarboxylates the THC acids back to THC. THC-COOH can make up to 90% of the available THC in an oxidated bud. Cooking with butter or some kind of oily substance will extract the cannabinoids, allowing your body to absorb them. Otherwise they are trapped inside the cells of the cannabis plant, and you can't digest cellulose (which the cell walls are made of). Eating raw buds will probably have some effect, but it's very inefficient.

Just kill the "all-natural" argument. I do smoke weed, and I firmly believe that it is solely my right to decide what I choose to put into my body. As another person said, whether that be poison or a vitamin.

I know what your saying and you proved it yourself, you dont need heat or flame to get stoned from cannabis but heat make it more active. I smoked cannabis for many years and took it others ways. I speak from total experience, and I know my science. Yes cannabutter is good, ever tried making cannabis tea, most make it with a tea bag like make a normal brew, wrong you must make it with milk as the fats in the milk allow the thc to bond with them, THC does not dissolve in water.

I could go on about this topic all day, trust me I know all about cannabis, and its not from a book

Oooh, a tea with milk; I haven't thought of that one. I shall try it out soon :)

1) Any smoke is harmful, no matter what, and 2) smoke is not necessarily the cause of lung cancer.

I do not need to read crap.

I'm sorry your friend died, but you are remaining unaware of facts by choice. Did the autopsy report say that the cause of death was lung cancer caused by smoking marijuana? I posted those links only to help educate and stop the spreading of myths, lies, and erroneous information. I do think you really believe it and I just want to open your eyes. I am not trying to offend you or anything. So he didn't smoke cigs? Big deal. He could have got it from second hand smoke of friends while hanging out over the years.

Maybe he got it from asbestos fibers which are silicate fibers that can persist for a lifetime in lung tissue following exposure to asbestos.

Maybe natural radon gas made him apart of the 22,000 people that die every year due to lung cancer? Radon gas can travel up through soil and enter homes through gaps in the foundation, pipes, drains, or any other openings. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates that one out of every 15 homes in the U.S. contains dangerous levels of radon gas. Radon gas is invisible and odorless just like carbon monoxide.

Perhaps air pollution lead to his/her demise? Up to 1% of lung cancer deaths are attributted to breathing polluted air, and experts believe that prolonged exposure to highly polluted air can carry a risk similar to that of second hand smoke for the development of lung cancer. A small percent indeed, but that means nothing to those who fall into that percent and lose their lives.

You are dismissing the possibility of any of these potential causes because he smoked marijuana. I know you probably came to this conclusion a long time ago, but isn't it worth looking into the facts and reconsidering?

Drugs aren't cool at all. But I believe at least on some level to the point where you're under control (and yes, people... You can be under control of any drug if you're not stupid, which personally, I find most aren't) it's your body and one shall do to ones body whatever one wants.

There is an obvious difference between different "drugs".

Drugs to me are:
Amphetamine
Phencyclidine (PCP)
Heroin
Cocaine (This of course includes crack)
MDMA (Extacy)
Tobacco
Alcohol

Drugs that personally that I find acceptable (AKA, OK):

Cannabis (Marijuana for the people who hate it but don't know why and don't know it's actual name)
Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) (moderate and smart usage, which is pretty easy to do as it is non-addictive)
Salvia Divinorum
Dimethyltryptamine (DMT)

There's more, I find those to be quite healing, just fine in my book.

Of course I'm sure I'll hear something along the lines: "Well my cousins uncles sister that I think I kinda knew died because his father's son said that he took too many drops of acid!!!1"

Just because someone abused something that is illegal doesn't mean shit, you can abuse cake too, I can tell you it will kill you faster than anything I listed under my "OK list".

But debating opinions, you'll never get anywhere doing that.

EDIT:

Also, notice the pattern in the lists I made. The first one obviously shows the drugs that kill people and have been CONFIRMED to kill people and actually RUIN lives.

Second list... No reported deaths, although I could be wrong with LSD, after all people ARE stupid.
Also, only way those will ruin lives if your a moron or you get caught.

Really...REALLY?

Do a little more research on your second list. LSD has many, MANY reported deaths. It takes alot to OD on LSD, yes, but...many, many people do things they wouldn't normally do when under the influence of a psychoactive substance. That, and you don't know WHAT may lay dormant in your brain just waiting for a little LSD to activate it. You can bring out mental disorders, schizophrenia, etc. It has nothing to do with intelligence or stupidity. Hallucinogens are SAFER in the hands of a person who is mentally stable, but that in no way means that things won't go wrong.

Aside from that, the rest of what you listed in your "OK" list is just as risky. DMT being more dangerous than salvia, only due to the complete disassociation with the world around you. It isn't necessarily the substance itself that is deadly, but the actions it can induce. And don't think that just because you have a babysitter that the world will work in your favor. At least make sure you have someone with a fair amount of experience in the realm you are about to enter if you intend to partake of these things.

I myself have never had a bad experience with anything I've done, and I've pretty much run the gauntlet. I've seen things though, and I know that it can be near impossible for 5 people to keep one from doing damage to themselves. Like I said, it isn't always about doing it the right way, or being smart about it...remember that with these things you are entering a mental state that has no rules, and things can go wrong no matter how prepared you are to handle it.

Very true. Psychoactive drugs do pose a danger that is often brushed off. Now I am glad nobody mentioned the dumb ass story of the guy who thought he was a glass of orange juice and tried desperately not to spill himself for the rest of his life. However, when you bend reality you are risking a lot that cannot be controlled. Unstable minds can lead to horrific visions that can cause heart attacks, mental disorders, etc. Schizophrenia is a common side effect from hallucinogens and is not worth the "fun" by any means. Hallucinogens can really alter your view on life forever in a good way or a bad way so be careful.
