My site needs speeding up. Who should I trust?

My site's ranking fairly bad on pagespeed insights, and I want to improve the score. But I'm a newbie and have no idea what any of that stuff is. I specialize in seo, and that's about it.

Using wordpress with a few plugins.

Can anyone direct me to a good seller who optimizes website speed based on all the metrics google's pagespeed insights is telling me I need to fix.


Tried a few gigs on seo clerks, not that useful except for gtmetrix optimization.

_use come CDN

Not all marketers are developers and usually when using wp and asking this question I doubt they can accurately take care of everything involved in completing the first major steps with CMS speed optimization even. It can be tricky and managing plugins even takes some good ole fashioned know how. Sometimes it is a great idea to outsource CMS development and focus on your strong points! However it can be tricky and a process to find a good reliable dev. What are you going to do, sit and watch them on TeamViewer or remote access the whole time? There are many youtube videos and the vast swath of info about wp online, you can find info on anything related to wp nowadays, its nuts. Some marketers just don't have the time.

One word of advice, if you are using fiverr probably more relevant, but some wp devs can inject backdoors easily and you would have zero idea, its very easy when using that framework!

Another thing to think about is the balance of your website. Sure you may pay and get perfect scores on GTmetrix and well on Lighthouse, Pingdom or whatever you judge by (dont go by WPegine scans, they definitely boost your performance), but is it worth xx.ms of speed to have a Call-to-Action email submit or .js runningin the background.

It's all about harmonization.

If you're on Wordpress, and already have fast or at least decent hosting, a couple of plugins should be in place. A cache plugin runs programming code only once instead of every time someone visits and is vital. I personally usually use W3 Total Cache, but there are options. Also, image smushers compress your images without making them look horrible. If you search in the plugin installer for 'smush' you'll see some good results. A CDN puts your website on a bunch of servers around the world so no matter where someone is located, they can get a version of their site near them, greatly increasing speed. They can be complicated at times, so if you're not comfortable, I'd reach out for additional help. You'll also want a fast theme, but see if the above helps first. You might not even need the switch if the above takes care of the issues you are having.

I had a similar problem with https://rds.ink lots of images. This is what I did.
- configured mod_pagespeed constantly looking at the msg log.
- made all the fonts local (I think I have them all )
- improve image compression, as it appears new compression standards are better like webp, jpeg etc (I am a noob at this stuff, so I can be wrong).
- with wordpress tune your db and make pages that can be static, make them static in cache.

Anyway I have a 2.3s load time on gtmetrix, so it tells me.

Pls be nice I am a noob when it comes to this stuff, only listing the things I have done to help you on the way. Others might and will have a different opinion.

I simply don't have the capacity to sit here and learn everything I need to learn at the moment to get the site fully optimized in google's eyes for a client I'm doing seo work for. Already took on a contract and under - priced it / almost doing the work for free to help a buddy out.

My strong point is ranking sites, not development or coding stuff like this. I grew up mostly doing offsite seo, and paid someone for most of the onsite stuff, although I know onsite metrics fairly well.

Also; kindablack only offered gtmetrix. I wasn't interested in that, so much as pagespeed insights. As it's GOOGLE. If you score well with their system's page speed analytics, then you'll in all likelyhood rank well. Not based off the metrics of other sites OVER google's own algo.

I am noticing BHW is filled with fake accounts that promote
I am noticing at BHW everyone is peddling.
When I read this person's first message in this thread, I was immediately intrigued as the real person in me senses like you do, a nice person on the other side.
When I write "I would like to see a thread before a BST", I mean I would prefer him teach men to fish and then catch fish for the lazy with a BST.

How big are your images? You should aim for 500x500px and 50-80kb, unless you absolutely need very high quality pictures. Also if GTMetrix shows under 3s load speed, don't worry too much about image size.

If you add the total cache plugin to wordpress and add the site to cloudflare. This should speed it up quite a bit without a huge amount of work.

Just fix it yourself. It might take 5 minutes if you are using Wordpress.

mostly its because of cache or image size.
