Anchor Text - Are You Doing it Right?

Yes i fked up my old site with hundreds of main kw's. with only 9% of branded and naked. now starting slowly targeting only branded, naked and generic to fix it.

How about internal linking? Same?
Very Good Question !!

Fixing the same site? .... by modifying content and internal links / anchors?? .... is it helping to revive the site? .... I ask because I have a similar issue.

Yes that is true if you use naked urls or brand anchors it would still be counte as an Anchor text bec you have a EMD site. I don't buy EMD's anymore but i suggest this to anyone who does. Let's say again you have a site for "lcdtvreviews.com" . What i would suggest you is this. Put the Title and H1 Tag a Brand like this. "Thisismylife's Lcd Tv Reviews" And use Brand as "Thisismylife" or "Thisismylife2 Reviews". That works too. I have done for couple of clients and it worked well.
Will this work for an eCommerce site selling products .... put the brand in H1 tags next to main product KW ... e.g site sells silver necklaces so title H1 would become ['brand' Silver necklaces] .... Will this work?
.... then use anchor text from product pages to the home page for [silver necklaces] and [brand silver necklaces] and [naked] and [generic] .... or do not use anchors and just use the words mentioned in the text without links? .... some top ranking sites I have seen do not internal link from product pages so I am a little confused as to what to do.

many thanks

Got an EMD sitting idle so should help!

From what you have on your site.
does this apply to multiple word that you want to rank for ... example, primary target is search term silver necklace but also want to rank for gemstone necklace (some necklaces have gemstones) .... both search queries have similar volume .... will Google pick up the KW's from content and rank the site for both terms .... according to what? ... varying density of the two different terms or the number of anchors targeting a particular term? .... and is it really necessary to use anchors internally?

cheers

What about ******** & nofollow exact match anchor text? Too many of ******** links of will sure get me penalized but what if they are nofollow? Do you think there is any difference?

i publish the link's on May 6, 2019 and i create one article with related text handmade 2 are free blogs and 3 are profiles/community

Don't worry mate. If you are building Web 2.0's on high DA sites like wordpress, blogspot, tumblr etc. it won't harm you unless you build thousands of them. I suggest u to use branding and naked urls though. I usually make about 200 of them for each site. Basstracker shared a i guess about 65 website list sometime ago. You can even build some more.Write a 500 word article manually spin it and make accounts on those sites. Don't have to wait for the rankings to come back. Build more from different sites. I wouldn't use forum profile links unless it is very related to my keywords though.

Yes branding like that would work. Also put it in the title too. You don't have to interlink on the site mate. Woocommerce or opencart like scripts already add category tags on the sidebar. If you want to be more specific you can use tags too. That is kind of like a silo structure. You don't need to interlink to main page too. Almost all scripts have a backlink to the home page from the LOGO or header part.

Google will decide what you gonna rank for looking at page authority. First you will probably rank for the easier keyword "gemstone necklace" and after you build more authority you will start ranking for "silver necklace". I hope u are not trying to rank for those terms because u probably won't.

Thanks very much for your input, I appreciate it - no not trying to rank for those KW's but my sites are jewelry related niches

Thank you for the share!

I have EMD. What are your recommendations? If I used the Branded this will be my main anchor too, so am stuck with this dilemma

I actually touched on EMD and other anchors in my previous threads. I think they complement this share nicely.

That's right. this is was my first mistake and I was getting crazy about what am I doing wrong. After some research I relized that I use tactics that used to work in 2012. I think that brand name is probably one of the most important factors. Thanks for the list BTB. I am sure it will help to some.

These are marvelous posts / tutorials .... some of the best practical advice I have seen in a long time - bravo !! (have bookmarked them for ongoing reference)

i've also noticed, using random ass anchors such as "blowing of steam" or literally something completely unrelated works well, and works really well for fixed over optimzed anchors. personal testing and witness here, nothing else. take with grain of salt

SEO with text link now is not effective, even counterproductive.
You need to place a link naturally, the position of the new website is growing more and more.

Nice post. I think over optimised anchors is one of the biggest failures when it comes to offsite SEO and it must be one of the easiest ways for Google to spot attempted ranking manipulation through automated means.

Great tip @BrassTrackerBoats just one question here.
Actually, I was thinking about it last night. And your thread came in between at exactly right time so I think I'm gonna get a solid answer here. :D

I have a new site approx 2 months old. I ordered one diversity package from here. I stated everything clearly to seller but still he made a mistake in anchors.

He asked me to provide only LSIs (130) and rest of the anchors he'll manage on his own.
At the take of completion of order i realized that he made links on LSIs and Naked anchors and there is no Brand, generic or author name in the picture. So I discussed about it with him. We came to a solution that I'll place a new order and he'll make new links on different domains with remaining anchors. Yeah, all links (approx 330) was indexed and majority of those links were available in search console.

As destruction was already happened it was a do or die situation and hence I was not having any other reason than ordering again. Yeah, due to following reasons.
1. Was not expecting this huge number of links will get crawled and index.
2. As it was showing in console it would not be right to change anchors in mass amount.
3. It won't be right to wait for results just with naked and LSI anchors, even it could result in penalty in some cases.
4. Could not wait and watch as if done so, and later I'll have added brand and generic then what I think is Google's smart machines could easily identify that I'm tricking with their logics.

Now, my concern is what do you suggest? Have I done right thing? Or I should have depends on any of the above mentioned reasons instead of ordering again????

And, to balance anchor cloud later on if it is over optimised will be a right way?
