It's dependent too on your budget, the quality of your site and the content on the site.

SEO definitely yield results if you are looking for organic results in longer run but if you are into something that requires to build brand awareness and quick results then SMM is decently helpful too.

I would do both methods SEO and Social Media.. You should not just limit yourself on one traffic method.
