Too late to start with KINDLE PUBLISHING?

I have been learning about kindle publishing mainly through threads on the forum. I noticed that most of the threads are from 2010-2012. So i decided i should ask before investing my time into it. Am i too late to the party?
If you are still doing it and having success with it please let me know.
Is it still possible to do it? Is there a lot of competition now? What if i get very specific niches?

(I am relatively new to this forum so cut me some slack if this isn't the right place to ask this)

Nah, been doing it for a while, it's still profitable you get most of your royalties. Don't expect to make big bucks just by publishing it alone.

There is never late for anything. You will always find people saying xyz is dead or not working. If you have interest in this, then go for it .

It's still working. I've been doing this for 2 years and it's been better than ever. Most of the crappy ebooks are gone now or buried deep in the results. Quality needs to be on point though. I recently started a journey doing books + seo.

Yeah I will be doing the marketing as well. My main skill is marketing. Will go through the marketing guidelines for kindle ebooks. I will be doing 100% organic.

3+ years ago when you started it was pretty easy to $20,000+ per month if you new what you were doing.

But that was exploiting loopholes in KDP, that have now been closed.

So it is never too late to start, but as you have illustrated KDP income has fallen about 90% since then.

They dont work now as amazon changed things...

When you launched a new book amazon promoted it free for 3 months.
So no need for paid ads. Then after 3 months you re-uploaded, got a new asin and started again. You could even keep your old ranking and reviews!

Kdp paid on pages read, as it does now. About $0.005 per page.
But you could just put a clickbait hyperlink that took them to the end of the book at the start and you got paid for the whole book being read and books had unlimited length, which you were paid for!

Amazon used to bundle kindle unlimited with prime.
As it was free you had every prime member as a customer on kdp!

Put all that together and it was a licence to print money with free books for every prime member and take amazon to the cleaners.

My marketing strategy is book clubs and children's events then I point everyone to amazon.

is that a relevant strategy? in today's time.

my overall goal is to get a stable $100 - $500 a month for a year or years to come.

@Komicon i have never bothered developing a strategy where the aim was to make about $3-$15 per day! So i have no idea.
