How many days a week should I train to gain some muscle mass?
And..what form of training is the best?
I might as well join testosterone corner as I'm a BWLA leader although I
haven't done any serious training for a year or so.
Resistance training is always best to create mass. When I say resistance I
mean weights ect. As For days a week to train, you should always have a
rest day, recovery is just as important as training if you want to add some extra muscle as you only grow when you're resting. To add bulk you should
train heavy weights/ low reps and to ad definition you should lighten the
weight and do more reps. You should also remember that you need to implement some sought of cardiovascular training anlong with your weight
workout. you need to be getting as much oxygen to those muscles as you can. I used to circuit train at least 4 times a week as an addition to my schedule. My schedule was.
Day1: Arms and shoulders.
Day2: Chest and back
Day3: Legs (I would do a leg workout on it's own due to the amount of physical resourses it uses).
Day4: Rest
I would do abs everyday except my rest day and I ran for an hour a day.
And repeat.
Diet is another important factor without getting into supplements and amino acids ect. But for me It was carbohydrates a few hours before a workout and protein after. Everyones body is different and you have to tailor your
workout to what your body requires.
I have never been a massive hulk but for strenth, fitness definition and
proportion I was on top of the game and even at 48 I'm in better shape than most of the 20 year olds around.
Remember it's about looking good not being big.
