Hello BHW!

I have read a LOT from BHW about blogging and other different methods. But because of that, I am really confused about where to start and what to do.

I heard and read it before, I think I have this shiny object syndrome.

Okay, so I will tell in this thread how much I have, what do I have, what I have done and everything that I can share about my current situation.

PayPal balance: $74.22
I got this balance from my video animation service. I have this client paying me $8 for every video I made. But I don't plan of scaling this up or doing this for a long time. I just did this for me to have enough money to invest for domain and hosting. (Yes, I know that I will be needing it even though I don't know where to use it).

I currently graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Computer Engineering, so I am now pressured to get a job. But I really hate going to the office and finishing the 8 hour minimum time there. But I often find companies near me to apply. The money I will be getting for the job (if I am hired, hopefully) will be used to invest into IM.

So now, I will tell my mindset and my goal why I chose to pursue IM.

I want to build my brand. I want to have my own website with my whole name as the domain name. (Do you think it is a bad idea?)

I want to dive into blogging talking about websites for businesses. The problem is I am not good at creating content. But I know that through blogging, I can monetize it with affiliate marketing.

Simultaneously, I want to find clients or business owners who don't have websites and build one for them. I saw threads here at BHW pricing the web designing at $500.

Also, I am looking to host my client's websites after creating it.

So I am looking for Siteground and Bluehost but the problem is my money is not enough :(
Because they offer for a minimum of a 1-year plan.

I don't really have a solid experience in creating websites but I have the knowledge about Wordpress. I think it is enough for startups (correct me if I am wrong).

I installed XAMPP in my laptop and slowly creating my localhost website.

I want to finish first my localhost website before buying a domain and hosting and migrate the localhost to an online host. (Do you think it is the right thing to do?)

Sorry for the long post, I just want a little help from you guys.

If there is something you want to clarify, or suggest, change, add or anything you want to say about this thread please comment down and I'll reply to it for the fastest time I can. (Even if it is unpleasant haha, I'm used to it)

I'll post again here, maybe my IM Journey, if this thread helps me.

Thanks

I think it’s great that you have a goal you’re working towards. And yes, you can absolutely have your name as a domain. As a web developer, your website could basically be an ad for your service. After all, people would be more likely to hire someone who already has a stellar site to build their own website. And if you’re not good at creating content, you can always hire a service or partner with someone who would be willing to create content for you until the website starts earning money. For example, you could have a blog portion of your site where you write about web developing tips and tricks. That would show off your expertise to potential clients. However, if you want to have content outside of web development, you should probably have a separate domain for it.

Yeah, that is what I have in mind, I need to have my own website and serve as my own portfolio.

And I should hire someone. Maybe I can create the draft for the blog post maybe, and hire someone that can proofread it. I am currently using this chrome extension "Grammarly".

Thanks.

Just so you know mentoring is not allowed on this forum

What kind of Video animations did you do? I have a fast growing youtube channel and looking for a partner that is skilled in Javascript and Video creation. Maybe we could work together.

Creating a post draft is a great idea. People often send specific writing instructions to their writers. When you get around to it, here’s what you should do:
  • Mine the keywords you need to use to get more eyes on your site
  • Figure out the post topics and create a bullet point structure for the pieces
  • Specify the niche-specific things you want the writers to include
  • Find good references for them to research
  • Figure out what kind of tone you want the posts to be in (I recommend the friendly expert tone for a personal brand website)
I use Grammarly too, but most of the time writing isn't just about grammar. You need to keep your readers' interest too, so it's about style as well.

Thanks for this. I will definitely do this. One last thing haha, where do I find cheap but good content writers?

I've heard Fiverr. com is good and iWriter. com also, but as you know I haven't tried hiring someone or buying articles. Maybe you know some tips for finding one. If no, it's okay. No worries. :)

I made whiteboard animations for my client. Maybe we can talk about that.

Oh sorry about the misunderstanding, what I really want to ask is some advice and tips about my problem and not really a one-on-one mentoring if that is what you are saying. Again I apologize about that.

you can start amazon affiliate blog ..

I assume you are saying to make blog reviews for Amazon products?

That method came to my mind, what my problem with it is I don't know how to make a review about a product from Amazon that I didn't use or bought.

I think that would cost me more for buying the product and then the domain and hosting.

But if there are other ways, I am always open for ideas (because I lack from it haha)

Fiverr and iWriter are good options, I suppose. There are also writers on Upwork. But if you ask me, I think that BHW is also a great place to find them. You can post a thread in the Hire a Freelancer section or check out one of the many services in the Content / Copywriting section as well. Each service has a thread and other customers leave reviews so you can see what everyone else thought. You can also see samples of their writing either by requesting them in their BHW inbox or by going to their websites and looking for the Samples page. I hope that helps!

Ow, I thought hiring a freelancer here in BHW is for higher level only, junior level I thought.
But I will check the forums, I think I saw good offers there.

Thank you very much. Kudos!

It is good to know that you have a plan you are working towards. The problem that most people do is to work without a plan. You can find high-quality content writers on Fiverr, Upwork, Guru or Freelancer.com. Just ensure you identify your niche and target audience first

It`s good to think about branding yourself right from the start.
This niche with website / business reviews gives you many opportunities for affiliate marketing, from web hosting comparison to WordPress plugin reviews , website builders etc.
If you`re not good at writing, then find some talent and pay for good articles with keywords and you focus on marketing your blog side.
