Wussup BHW,

I want to share how I use PBN links in 2019 to ACTUALLY rank my site(s) #1 in Google.

(btw, this is long-ish. So there's a TL/DR at the bottom)

Disclaimer:

This post is just one person's opinion. There are definitely other ways to rank and make things work. So don't take this post as the be-all-end-all of ranking or IM in general. It's just what I've found works best for me over and over.

A little backstory

feel free to skip this shit and jump right to the real reason you're here (how to use pbns effectively)

It's been a while.. (my last significant post was waaaay back in 2013: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/seo-method-how-to-build-authority-web-2-0-backlinks-step-by-step.546989/#post-5360607). A lot has changed but some things always remain the same.

I was all about SEO back then (and up until only a couple years ago).

All I wanted to do was get that juicy organic seo traffic - fuck paid ads and "content marketing lol." I wasn't even paying attention to major money drivers like email marketing...

But now I think I'm a more well-rounded marketer, not just a wanna-be marketer putting all my income at the whims of Google's bi-polar disorder and praying they'd let me squeeze pennies for as long as I could.

I banked a bit... but then also fell off hard and lost EVERYTHING. Income from sites, income from clients.

Gone...

Cuz SEO is fuckin stupid (and fuckin awesome too).

Quick Thoughts on Driving Traffic and Making Money

With the help of other very important people in the IM game (Shout Out to the Ancients, the Ronins and BuSo), I realized that solely relying on and focusing on SEO was a HORRIBLE business model.

I get it, gaming the system.. watching your site climb the ranks.. getting all those dollars without spending on ad dollars..

It's sexy as fuck but that bitch'll give you an STD if you're not careful.

So now I don't only focus on SEO to drive revenue/traffic. I am open to using any and all REAL MARKETING tactics to make my business succeed - including "great content" and "content marketing" and other bad-words like that.

Call me a white-hat if you want IDGAF - truth is I'm not at all. I want to get money, not worried about what color my hat is.

Now, here's what you really came to read:

How to Rank With PBN Links in 2019

I still have a large focus on SEO - it's still got the same great ROI as it always has, it's just always harder and harder to do every single year.

And my main link building strategy is PBN Links - they've still got the same power and same effectiveness as ever. They just need to be made better and better every year.

If You're Building a Private Blog Network

There's a https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/the-no-nonsense-guide-to-building-your-pbn-in-2017.944503/ if you're not sure how to do it.

And all I'd want to comment on is one thought:

FUTURE PROOF YOUR PBN.

You need to make your PBNs look and feel like REAL SITES more and more each year.

That means - beautiful design, premium hosting, decent quality content, driving traffic and monetization.

There are great services here on BHW that will do the design and content for you. Don't get it twisted, Google's getting better and better at recognizing good layout/design and decent content.

If you're still using spun content on your PBN in 2019, just close this thread now...

Premium hosting ensures you're hiding in plain sight - your site's always up and it's not living in a meth-den with other meth-heads and dealers

Driving traffic shows Google it's a legitimate site that exists for a reason OTHER than linking to your money site. And links that drive actual traffic to your money site are 10x more powerful than links that just kind of exist out there for no reason.

Monetization is a no-brainer that I never even considered until a great IM thinker mentioned it. Your online assets need to AT THE VERY LEAST pay for themselves, if not generate their own significant revenue.

PBNs are expensive to maintain! Why wouldn't you want to build it to be self-sustaining - paying for it's own hosting, it's content, etc with some lame ClickBank offer??

It just makes sense.

It comes down to this:
  • Make your PBN look good - logo/design/layout/hosting/etc
  • Add 1 massive "HowTo/Guide" article that is able to rank on it's own and is evergreen and monetize it with some affiliate offer
  • Put ads to that offer in the sidebar's
  • Throw up 1 new related article each month
  • Maybe even drive some Social Media/Paid traffic or build other links to that big guide
Do that and guess what happens? You have a REAL LOOKING PBN site that will give you MASSIVE link-juice, last for years and even make you some money.

Win-Win-Win...

SIDE-NOTE:

Can you still rank using shitty looking PBNs and garbage content that are just there for links?

Fuck yeah you can!

I see it in the SERPs everyday, especially in dirty niches. But... have fun playing wack-a-mole for the rest of your life...

Using/Buying Private Blog Network Links to Rank

Now, let's talk a little about actually using those sexy PBNs you're building (or the PBN links you're buying from reputable sellers)

Back in the day, I just used PBNs almost exclusively (not many other types of links) and pointed them all to my Money $ite

Now my approach is a bit different - I spread the link juice around to all the other links I build.

Firstly, I only build about 2 (maximum 3) PBN links directly to my Money $ite WEEKLY.

I'll have 3-5 total links within the PBN article BUT only ONE SINGLE LINK points to my Money $ite.

Of course, I try to make this the first link within the article...

But the other links in the PBN article point to external authority sites and other properties related to my site.

What are those "other properties related to my site?"
  • My Social Media Profiles
  • My Social/Business Profiles + Business Citations
  • My Other PBN Links
  • My Web 2.0/Q&A/Forum Links
  • My Outreach/Guest Post Links
Yup.. I use my PBNs to link out to any and every thing that touches my Money $ite.

This helps mix things up, allows you to "overlap hosting accounts/domains," and pass link juice around to your "online ecosystem,"

Does it take a lot of PBN links? Yup, and that takes a lot of work and sometimes money.

But it WORKS. Plain Jane.

MORE IMPORTANTLY, that means I build A TON of other types of links too. I'm not ONLY using PBNs anymore.

Why? Because of anchor text.

I only use PBN links that point directly to my Money Site with exact-match or keyword-focused anchor texts.

And allllll the other links I build (guest posts, web 2.0s, profiles, outreach, etc. etc.) help diversify my anchor text profile with URL/Brand/Converstaional/Random anchor texts.

That brings me to another point - link indexing. Does a link count if it's not indexed in Google? That's debatable.

But to be safe I use a link indexer because Web 2.0s and profiles can be really hard to index. And what if that generic anchor text in this web 2.0 doesn't get counted to my overall anchor profile because it's not indexed?

Better to be safe, I guess...

A Quick Note on What Exactly You're Trying to Rank

OK Look.. I'm not gonna lie - this next part is the least sexy thing you're gonna read.

The content/article/post you're trying to rank #1 in Google needs to be ON POINT.

Like, next-level on point.

The easiest things I've ever been able to rank have been SUPER GUIDES (even if they're "review" articles or "buying guides":
  • 3000+ Words of Content
  • High Quality Writing w/ Actual Usefulness + Value
  • Full of Rich Media (Videos, Audio, Images)
  • Well Formatted (no walls of text)
  • Well Designed/Laid Out (Table of Contents, Headers/Sub Headers, Easy to Scan/Read)
Why? Probably cuz of RankBrain - Google's latest ranking algorithm. It's all about engagement metrics and so high quality content is easier to rank with links alone because users will stay on the site, read the content, interact with the videos/audio, share it...

And all of that helps you steal the #1 spot as opposed to being stuck at #5 when using links alone.

Conclusion

So there it is... My current thought process and strategy for dominating SERPs in 2019 and beyond.

Some people might think "that's a ton of work, why not just do outreach and be a pure white-hat?"

Good question. My answer: With PBNs you still have CONTROL. It's important. And potentially an additional source of revenue/traffic.

I know a lot of people probably won't like it. But it's the truth I've found up to today. Take it for what it's worth - one person's opinion on making money online.

Here's the TL/DR for the "fuck reading" types:
  • Don't just focus on SEO alone. That's stupid. There's so many ways to drive traffic and generate revenue and they can all tie into your SEO/PBN strategy
  • PBNs are still the most effective links you can build/use to rank in 2019
  • You can either Buy PBN Links or Build Your Own... Up to You
  • But your PBNs need to be built NEXT-LEVEL (we're talking "real website" style next-level) whether you build or buy.
  • Don't only link directly to your Money $ite from PBNs - spread the juice around (pause) your entire online ecosystem
  • Each PBN Post can have 3-5 links in it but only have ONE SINGLE LINK pointing directly to your Money Site
  • Build LOTS OF OTHER LINKS to your site, don't use PBNs alone. PBNs should be used exclusively with keyword and exact match anchors to snipe the Top Spot on Google, while all other links provide you with the URL/Brand/Random anchors you desperately need.
  • Make sure your Money $ite is a GOOD SITE - is a brand, has dope ass content and looks beautiful
That's it for now folks.

I recently wrote https://thepbnguys.com/how-to-rank/ if you're interested in getting more in-depth into my exact ranking strategy.

It goes into details about On-Page and Off-Page stuff. It's also got a daily ranking calendar/blueprint and High DA link-list you can download.

If anyone has any questions, etc leave them on this thread. I'll do my best to answer them but please bear with me and have patience if I don't get to it immediately.

Would also love to hear others' thoughts on how they've been ranking lately in general.

Thanks! Now go out there and dominate some SERPs

Excellent guide !! Straight to the point

What anchor text you used when you link to another pbn site within the pbn

I usually try to make it a conversational anchor text that contains a partial keyword somewhere within it if possible. Never really use exact match since it's not so natural and needs to be used sparingly.

Great guide, thanks for sharing this, I will go and read your link now as well. I 100% agree about putting the time into your PBNs and making them look like real sites.

Nice guide but if you link to your money site with exact match anchors, it makes it very easy to spot the pbns in Google's results. Thus a competitor could report or Target your pbn sites.

As i understood you have to build 3-5 links may be as below

1 - Anchor money site
2 - Authority site ( wiki as example)
3 - Social profile ( Money site Fb page as example )
4 - Web 2.0s linking to my MS
5 - other pbns which linking to my MS

Is it consider Foot Print as i make google discover my network (PBNs and Web 2.0s ) ?????

Good effort well done.

However I'm not sure if I agree with you in one statement you made on your website (I've read your article) about that every site should have SSL (https) and that Google doesn't likes sites without it.

This is only recommended to have on sites with members area or e-commerce sites where users are required to enter their personal information.

Why the heck someone needs SSL on sites like Adsense blogs, CPA landing pages, software download sites and such. There is no need to have SSL unless your visitors needs to enter their sensitive private information. And Google won't devalue your site for not having it.

Nice guide but if you link to your money site with exact match anchors, it makes it very easy to spot the pbns in Google's results. Thus a competitor could report or Target your pbn sites.

You can hide your links from competitors then.

Seems like maintaining a PBN is more expensive than just buying guest post from niche relevant sites?

It's definitely expensive. Absolutely.

I only try to do guest posting manually. I really love having as much control as possible on all my links, but that's prob just personal preference.

I think the PBN ROI is still high though because you can use those same PBNs for multiple sites and properties, etc and like I said they can generate their own revenue.

But if you don't want to spend the time/money, definitely buy PBN links from a good provider.

Maybe but are the results the same?

Very good point and I'd ask the same question about effectiveness and efficiency.

Nice guide but if you link to your money site with exact match anchors, it makes it very easy to spot the pbns in Google's results. Thus a competitor could report or Target your pbn sites.

I tend to only use EXACT match anchors once or twice. Not repeatedly. And the threat of someone reporting your site or pbn is definitely a risk, but mostly an excuse to not do.

As i understood you have to build 3-5 links may be as below

1 - Anchor money site
2 - Authority site ( wiki as example)

Is it consider Foot Print as i make google discover my network (PBNs and Web 2.0s ) ?????

No no, when you're putting in 3-5 links all within the same PBN post, you DONT want to link to every property you have. Use 1 link direct to money site and 1 link to ONE other property. The rest of the links should be useful external authority links.

Good effort well done.

However I'm not sure if I agree with you in one statement you made on your website (I've read your article) about that every site should have SSL (https) and that Google doesn't likes sites without it.

I would tend to agree with you, and I don't believe I said that Google doesn't like ANY site that doesn't have https. But what I've noticed in the serps is that all the niches I'm in have Spots 1-5 as HTTPS sites. There are only rare occasions I've seen a non-ssl site ranking #1.

And if you're collecting emails (which you damn well should be), that's reason enough to have SSL. Further - it LOOKS good to users, they're more and more saavy imo, so seeing that "not secured" notification in your browser goes towards branding and the strength/quality of your brand.

Just my opinion

But the other links in the PBN article point to external authority sites and other properties related to my site.

What are those "other properties related to my site?"
  • My Social Media Profiles
  • My Social/Business Profiles + Business Citations
  • My Other PBN Links
  • My Web 2.0/Q&A/Forum Links
  • My Outreach/Guest Post Links

- Hey thanks for the guide if you are building links between your PBN sites - wont this expose your entire PBN and potentially get shut down?

Wussup BHW,
...
  • Each PBN Post can have 3-5 links in it but only have ONE SINGLE LINK pointing directly to your Money Site.....

[1] can you please explain this a bit more. why shouldn't you have 2 links to your money site from a single pbn post. i.e. 1 link to homepage and another link to another page on your money site?

[2] also, for links to other authoritative sites on that PBN post, would you make them no-follow?

- Hey thanks for the guide if you are building links between your PBN sites - wont this expose your entire PBN and potentially get shut down?

Yes it absolutely can. I almost NEVER link within a specific network - so if I have a 5 links to money site in Network 1, I may link ONCE to Network 1 from a PBN site in Network 2 and again with a PBN site in Network 3, etc. Since not everyone will have multiple networks (I'm a link seller) then the solution would be to say have your network link directly to your money site and then purchase PBN links to spread around various other properties, your own pbns included.

I think most people think that they have to do everything I mentioned 25 times for each link you build, like take it all TO THE MAX in every way. That's not what I mean, everything should be completely random and natural looking. And if you do things right, you don't need a TON of PBN links to rank for every keyword. There are so many possibilities when you're randomly linking that you totally minimize the risk of exposing yourself, because you're not being foolish about your linking, and linking every site in your network to each other, etc.

Great post! You mentioned e-mail marketing, is it real so awesome?

Meh, i dunno about AWESOME. But it's definitely great. I think it'd be awesome if I could get open rates above 50% and click rates of 10%.

But regardless, it still drives revenue. Let me put it like this, I make a lot more money now (and it's still not a lot, like i said I lost everything and started from scratch) than I did before I found a way to do email marketing effectively.

And with email at least you have a way to reach your potential customers again in a personal way. It's all about having that data.

[1] can you please explain this a bit more. why shouldn't you have 2 links to your money site from a single pbn post. i.e. 1 link to homepage and another link to another page on your money site?

[2] also, for links to other authoritative sites on that PBN post, would you make them no-follow?

I'm not against having 2 links to your money site. I do it too, very randomly and not frequently. The problem is when you say 2 links in your money site people will buy 25 links and have 2 links to their money site (the exact same 2 links) in every single post. That's a footprint and foolish linking.

And from my experience, that's not how the internet works. If you pay attention, I'd say (and I could be wrong) that MOST articles only ever link to a domain once within an article. That's natural - you find a resource you like that relates to something you're talking about and mention it then move on with the article.

The only place where I've seen 2 links to the same domain out in the wild is guest posts. But like I said, sometimes I do it randomly because there are instances when a single site has 2 or more related resources that I'd like to mention to my readers - so it happens.

But more often than not, you'll probably find most people only ever linking to an outside domain once within the same article.

I think the PBN ROI is still high though because you can use those same PBNs for multiple sites and properties, etc and like I said they can generate their own revenue.
How do you use the same PBN for multiple sites?

Isn't it a big footprint when few random domains link to the same sites? Even if you have them on different hosting/webmaster accounts, etc.

[1] can you please explain this a bit more. why shouldn't you have 2 links to your money site from a single pbn post. i.e. 1 link to homepage and another link to another page on your money site?
Because Google detects PBNs by scanning for irregular patterns. Having 7 OBL and two linking out to the same domain is suspicious. They might detect it and might not. For the long term website an additional link from the same domain is not worth the risk for many.

Same with nofollowing authority OBL. It is very obvious PBN link manipulation attempt for G and can be risky.
