I have a website that's a year old averaging very little traffic (~30-50/day).

I'm prepping for a couple of cornerstone blog posts but I'm uncertain about the keywords I should target for these post and I'd appreciate any thoughts or feedback.

Reading around tells me that I should target head keywords which naturally makes senses but my question is, how big (volume) of a keyword should I target.

Using SEMRush metrics, I've located a head kw that had a volume of 60k/mo. and a keyword difficulty of 69%. I don't have expectations to land on the first page anytime soon but there are some sites that rank 10-15 that have low content and minimal backlinks that I think I could replace.

Am I aiming too high on this keyword? Will landing on the 2nd page land me any traffic? Also, are there any metrics I should look for on secondary keywords?

Thanks,

A way to high for your skills and not worth in most of the cases.

No offence don't take me wrong.

No worries, I want honest feedback.

Is there a volume number you'd shoot for? Or do you look at multiple metrics?

Even KD less then ten sometimes gives you troubles. You must check top 3-5 and compare to your website if they are the biggest authorities you odds are lower.

But again, your KD it`s a way too much.

Currently, I try to put loads of content and rank long term for very small searches but many. I do an evergreen blog.
