BITCOIN DOWN TO $400 !!!!

Lol! That's like saying " the ship is sinking but I'll stay on board just in case it doesn't " when everyone else is heading for the lifeboats

Yeah that is correct, but I presume bitcoin after some time that went bad will recover like it did many times

mmm sadomasochism hurt me baby one more time...

Crypto is the future but I don't see any current coin as a replacement for BTC.
IMO the sooner BTC crashes and burns the better it will be for the development of a replacement coin.
I love crypto's and BTC but BTC always seemed to me to be more a proof of concept.
The idea of crypto has been proven, now we just need development of a coin that irons out the issues that have been identified.
These are exciting times.

What issues are you exactly talking about?

There is no need to have 1 MAIN coin where all others will follow it or be pegged with.
As coins develop their own products and uses they will start to build their own ecosystem which will make them not be pegged and split away from BTC. Its just how crypto works - the more support you have the more independent you are.
BTC in my opinion will always hold strong in this market since its the main technology upon where all others are built.

2019 will be a good year for crypto. BAKKT launching in January ( as they announced ) + did you noticed that in December all exchanges including all big ones like Binnance started with KYC verification.
This means Regulation is coming + technology has improved a lot with many exciting releases in 2019.
It still has a long way to go but i think its on the right track. Blockchain is the Future.

I agree up to a point. BTC is a proof of concept but its one thats in active development and regardless of what many people like to claim is still more decentralised than pretty much every other chain. The main problem I see is the avalanche of shit coins we have seen diluting the market and the sooner most of them get purged the better. Its no good touting BTC's limited supply when you keep getting forks of forks of forks. There are good altcoin projects out there but how decentralised can you really be if you have a CEO?

I have listed them previously several times, don't have time atm to go through them. (Going to lunch!)
I'll list a couple for you (enjoy your lunch)
  • Scale-ability - Lightening fixes this but the UX is crap. We are waiting on someone to make this a lot easier more so than the network being upgraded. Eclair is good but its still not quite there for your average user. Exchanges were slow to implement Segwit and batching so how far they are from implementing LN is anyones guess right now.
  • Speed - Not as slow as you think. Its the exchanges forcing 6 confirmations not the chain. Also when it nearly ground to a halt "someone" was spamming the fuck out of the network with tiny transactions. Segwit adoption since then has risen enough to also make a large difference.
  • Power Usage - This is the big one IMO. POW is inefficient by design. You burn electricity to make coins. You could argue that POW is driving more green energy solutions. Iceland's use of excess thermo energy and hydro in Brazil and China being two examples.

Goddamn, i just went short on BC, you made me happy for a second

Lmao.. you got me, nice one! I was about to sell all my gold for 5cents an ounce & cash in...!

Aah, this aged very well I can see.

We are 'still' at the healthy $4k hmmm....

Don't listen to Asif, he's just a hater. I sold my house and bicycle for bitcoins and today i'm a freakin nomad. I eat fruits and fresh grass every day (anyway i hated the processed items). I have lost a lot of weight just because of bitcoin.

Bitcoin to mooooooon!
