Hi mates,

My friend website SERP is dropped since august mid. Due to the google medic update it is affected the serp ranking from 1st page to 5th page for few keywords and some keywords are disappeared. I tried so many things by removing the unwanted backlinks and content changes. It is completely mobile optimized and done all the things.

Can anyone recovered the ranking from that update. Any suggestion over that.

Hi, I have the same situation before. The mistake you did was removing unwanted backlinks. There is no official or practical proof that how this Google Medic update changed SERPS so it's not a right direction. Content changes, yes we also doing it but not for all the pages.
FYI: Google rolled back that Medico update on DEC 1st week most of the medic related websites got their ranking positions back.
Now, what you can do? Just build high-quality backlinks wait for the SERP changes. Double check you're on-page and wait. In this meanwhile if you think the website was ruined create a new website simultaneously. Let me know if you have any questions.

My site was affected badly by Aug 1 Medic Update, well I believe I am recovering now.

TBH, I am 100% sure that Google hasn't rolled back the Medic update at all! If any site is recovering it must be the hard work of their SEO team and their right techniques.

Below is my last 90 Days Graph:

I was hit hard by this update, my site has disappeared from Google for most of the competitive keywords.

There is an article from Marie Haynes, she has written something amazing on how to recover etc but don't believe anything anyone says.

Here is what I did and what you should do to recover from this update:

Only two things:

1. Fix your content!

By fixing your content I mean just look out for grammar errors and low-quality sentences. Also, make sure you're not overoptimizing for any keyword. I will suggest you to hire a content writer who knows how to write and have experience in your niche. Just don't hire anyone from Fiver, look out for someone in your social group. I found two amazing writers from Facebook, they're cheap and they write great content!

Est Time: 1-2 Months

2. Build Authority

Before trying to build authority make sure your site doesn't have any page with low-quality content, your site structure is well formatted, there is no technical error on the site, page speed is under 3 seconds. Once you're done with optimizing everything, move on building the authority. This step is actually super easy if you're not following everything that Neil Patel, Brian Dean & other SEO's tell you.

You just need backlinks from HIGH DA/PA sites to build authority and trust!

For Backlinks you can do:
PDF Submissions
Video Submission
Social Profiles
Other Profiles
Your Company/Website Listings
Maybe PBN's if they're good quality
Guest Postings

Est Time: 2 Months

Well, this is what I have done so far & I am sure that if you'll follow this, you'll be able to recover as well.

Let me know if you need any help! Thank You

Thanks mates for your advice. I am going to follow this. I did some mistakes by removing the unwanted backlinks as you guys mentioned above. Now i am going to build some authority backlinks by submitting press releases, guest posting, busimess listings. I hope will recover from this asap.

Thanks once again

It will recover for sure, just don't lose hope!

I have performed a lot of analysis on sites that went up. I usually do that whenever a major update happens but this is the first update that has absolutely no "pattern" whatsoever.

For example, some sites that have zero EAT went up while some with decent EAT were hit. No clear pattern in backlinks too. Pages on high authority domains ranking below domains that have little to no DA, etc.

This algo is heavily based on Rankbrain which is young and still "learning" the webpages. Freshness is also factored very heavily in this core update.
