People buy and sell them on a regular basis - I was once into that game and made a couple of dollars.

It is not so much is it safe from YT but rather are you dealing with someone who is going to be an honest seller and complete the deal as it should be completed.

The transaction should be a fairly simple one and once you get the account change all the security measures so that the seller cannot take it back after the sale.

Exactly, so either start a brand new YT account and then go through all the process to make it monetizable or buy from a respected seller.

Then they are deleted. Problem solved. You can't be penalized for content that no longer exists on your channel
