Case Study- Ranking a page with just Web 2.0s

First, I will be following this thread.

Second, about 3.5 months ago, I started web 2.0 but only with tumblr (PA above 40) and results are just awesome, was targeting only 1 keyword and after applying great effort the keyword was landed on 1st page, still working on it to get on top 5, KD was 55

Holy shit how do you find so many.

I've scraped a million or two tumblrs and only found 1 PA 40

Yes all the tumblrs are with PA 40 (not niche Specific)
There is a free tool (Free only for 7 Days) for scraping such expired Blogs ;)

What's the tool called out of curiosity?

@jamie3000 well now the tool owner is asking about it, I have to answer: Expired Web 2.0 Finder from SupaGrowth :)
What's the tool called out of curiosity?

Feelsbadman Jamie's web2.0 scraper has always given me issues and could never scrape past page 1 or whatever the fuck it used to happen :l

Oh and by the way, just an idea.

You should make something similar to expired article hunter.

Scrape expireddomains.net (or import a list whatever), and have it scrape the articles from wayback machine.

Depending on price I'd definitely buy it

Following along, I just wanted to ask that do you place link in the web 2.0 before or after indexing?

with respect for @jamie3000 I am using his tools from 2 years, and each tool performs best (in my case), @spectrejoe just ask what is lacking and he will answer, Jamie always answered in time and with proper resolution even when all the tools were free for use :)

I really hope you will update this thread - even if it's only once a month. These kind of projects take half a year to a year to see if the links have any effect (nowadays) and it's super common for the OP (not you specifically, in general I mean) to disappear after few weeks or month only to come back at random point and tell that other projects got in the way of things and this project was abandoned.

Rather than wanting to see if the web 2.0-s really rank your site, I would like to see a case study followed through :D

Good luck, anyways!

If the recommended software is not working great (it hasn't for me as well), scrapebox is reliable.
You just need a couple millions of tumblr blogs scraped. Try and scrape old tumblrs. If you use google to scrape make the time setting to be at least 1 year old. You can play with the time interval. ;)
It's just a game number. After that is time to put in place a good workflow to check 404's, metrics and actual availability.
With the new MOZ update, now I can get easily PA+50 and sometimes up to PA80.

Do you mind linking to a guide for that workflow?
I own scrape box but I don't know how to use it for that purpose.
Thanks!!

Did you use: image + anchor/ exact match, variations / phrase or you uploaded content and optimized the Tumblr for 1 keyword? Hastags?

usually scrpae bing since I don't have proxies and I don't use proxies for anything at all besides well, scrapebox. Bing also allows me to scrape faster.

Little tip for you guys. Don't underestimate the power of bing. Ok, it's index isn't as big but it crawls much less frequently so you actually get more expired tumblrs in the results compared to Google, as Google will simply not show you tumblrs that are returning a 404 ;-)

Once you have the tumblr list it is up to your resources how you set the workflow.
A simple way to do that was the one I described earlier. Check 404, then metrics, then availability.

I saw you mentioned that you checked 1-2 millions tumblrs. If those tumblr were unique and you got only 1 PA40, there is something off with your accuracy.
Either bad proxies, bad connection or something wrong with the metric checking.
Even before MOZ update I could get at least a few dozens PA40 from 1 million tumblrs.

An even faster way to scrape tumblr blogs, that no one talks about, is scraping tumblr itself. And you have at least 2 options. Either using it's search engine or directly its internal linking. ;)

Too bad you'd have to custom create a scraper to scrape tumblr
