Making Money with Ad & Traffic Arbitrage

Hey It's me again....

I'm still doing arb...some good days and bad. Right now I'm using RevContent but suddenly they are not performing well for me.
Most of my traffic is mobile so I've been trying different layouts and I've finally set up Google Analytics to show me which campaigns (each campaign is a viral news article) is generating clicks to RevContent. Before I was just averaging all of the clicks across all of the stories I was boosting, but now I can get much more granular.

I'm just curious if anyone has expererience using Rev Content vs Taboola vs Outbrain for publishing earnings.

And one more question...my pages are set up for long scroll not multiple clicks. Is it better to have a visitor, scroll down and see 12 ads, or click to another page and have 6 and 6? Or no difference at all. BTW my complete monitzing strategy is a CPM network and RevContent. That's it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards,
-Capp

If your using cpm it is usually best to have multiple pages as that click through creates another impression.

Which cpm ad network are you using? As your traffic is mobile it might be worth using facebook audience network.

I'm using Adthrive. They've been pretty good. I was wondering if ads at the top of pages earned more than ads at the bottom. If that's the case, then getting another page click would make sense.

Hey,

On my experience Outbrain is the first place, RevContent is the second and Taboola is the rest.

Taboola works good for me on European traffic.

Pageviews vs Scrolls:

Excessive ads may affect user behavior and make sure look spammy, squeezing page views can have same result. Depending on your traffic and it’s behavior both variants may give good or bad results, so you should test. Pageviews would be easier to do than scroll to the bottom.

FB Audience network - that would depend on the traffic source.

i cant download the free ebook from your website. i already signed up, i did not recieive any confirmation email.

How many page views per visitor are you averaging? What do you do to increase/optimize page views per visitor?

How many page views per visitor are you averaging? What do you do to increase/optimize page views per visitor?

That depends on the site structure and content
E.g.
Article/News - 3-5+
Gallery/Viral - 7-10+

Study user behavior, understand what's affecting how users browse.

Take into account such facts as traffic origin, quantity, price, vertical, cpm/rpm or whatever you work with.

I'm searching for like 5 hours, how to insert a simple pagination and I can't find the way.

See picture attached. Do you think you can help me out?

Is your site on WP? There's a number of free plugins
GVector or WP pagination

Hi, I clicked your signature: https://goo.gl/zcpeMb
but there's no ebook in there

hey @se900se how do you track earnings on each page?

Depending on what exactly you need to track.
One of the easiest ways is to create separate DFP tags for each particular page you want to track - it can be a lot of work though.

I'd want to track earnings to know whether a campaign was profitable.

Lets say I was promoting this example url: test.com/-awesome-clickbait-article on facebook. If im monetizing by outbrain, how would I know how much im making?

You can do that with UTM tracking
Example: test.com/-awesome-clickbait-article?utm_source=outbrain_campaign_one

So im assuming, when promoting on facebook, you would promote the url with the utm tracking parameters, right?

Thanks! :)

I am here my friend! Thanks a ton for helping clarify these adsense related questions:

1: how many ADs units per page you guys put on your site?
2: what the color of the ADs text, Red or simply same as article text or even default?
3: image+text or text only?
4: whats the site font usage works best for you? (I found some free wordpress theme fonts sucks and small)
5: do you use a sidebar on your blog? It seems the CRT will be very very very low if use a no sidebar wordpress theme...
6: do you disable the interested ADs
7: anyone in health niche could you give some tips on adsense?
8: I somewhat feel like different country's account is a bit different, is that truth? People keep saying US account got good CPC than other countries...

And weird to say, why sometimes adsense will not show on a page? (content is not too short) What could be the reasons?

I am here my friend! Thanks a ton for helping clarify these adsense related questions:

1: how many ADs units per page you guys put on your site?

3 is perfect, but I guess you know and saw that most sites using 5 and even more
I am talking about Display units only

2: what the color of the ADs text, Red or simply same as article text or even default?
I do not choose a specific color to be honest, not sure how this affects revenue

3: image+text or text only?

Image + Text

4: whats the site font usage works best for you? (I found some free wordpress theme fonts sucks and small)

I love Georgia font, though, I use different fonts on different sites, I don't think this affects anything
Make sure that font is easy to read

5: do you use a sidebar on your blog? It seems the CRT will be very very very low if use a no sidebar wordpress theme...

Use widgets there, latest or most popular posts/search bar, anything to attract attention, and use those widgets between ads

6: do you disable the interested ADs

I don't, the more ads the better, there will be an ad to be shown to this specific user, so I don't block anything

7: anyone in health niche could you give some tips on adsense?[/QUOTE]

Same tips as for every other niche, focus on the site, not the ads, once you have truly quality content you won't have to worry about the ads.

8: I somewhat feel like different country's account is a bit different, is that truth? People keep saying US account got good CPC than other countries...

That is true that US traffic has best rates most of the times, but there're different ad networks that pay better for non-us traffic.

And weird to say, why sometimes adsense will not show on a page? (content is not too short) What could be the reasons?

If it doesn't show up for you, doesn't mean its not working for your visitors.
You may calculate impressions by calculating Users, Pageviews, and Ad Units - e.g. if you had 10 users that browsed 3 pages each and each page has 3 ad units you suppose to have 90 impressions.
