2 Mil views. Still Rank Low. Why?

I uploaded a clickbait-ey video 7 years ago and gained over 2 million views from it, along with 700+ comments and 5000+ likes/dislikes - 56% being likes, and 2k subscribers. it was the sole video on the channel

in recent months i've uploaded 5 videos in a completely unrelated area. they rank damn low

i thought uploading them on this channel would give them a boost from the attributes gained from the old video. why hasn't it?

is there a way to liken the old video to my new ones(similar description, tags, title), or direct link to boost their rankings?

now there is a lot of competition in the niche for my new videos but im ranking like this account has no history AT ALL. perhaps worse

what do you mean by engagement? all of my views for that first video are from youtube search and have a 65% retention average. what else is there to look at?

your video is outdated on youtube eyes, youtube ranks fresh content. it's hard to find a 2+ years old video ranks on the first page unless there is no content on your niche

65% is bad retention? and that's why i asked how to relate the old video to the new ones. ie description, title, tags. all of which i can change

No 65% is not a bad retention , try to observe the analytics of the video to see the traffic sources and how many views does it get nowadays ?

i still rank high for that old video for 2 seperate 3-word keywords. it gets around 200 views every 48 hrs. by viewer interaction you mean comments, likes? back in those days a video got on average 1k comments for 1m views so its slightly low at 700+ for 2m. CTR pertaining to what, YT search? thats where 98% of my traffic comes from according to analytics

you dont exspect yt to keep old video at the top do you.

imagine someone studing computers and all they get is 7 year old info that stupid .

yt keeps up with trends and what new and comming .

I think there is no the most important factor. YT takes into account many factors. Views are just one of them.

the old video still ranks #1 for it's keyword(s) and gets maybe 2k weekly

Yeah unfortunately having an established channel doesn't automatically translates to every video getting ranked on Youtube, even if they are fully optimized (Are they?). Having an established channel mainly helps in getting your new videos indexed faster than new channels.
