I'm glad some of you have your rankings returned

My client's and my friends' website rankings have all returned too. One of my friend's site is about 2 years old and she is ranking way better than before. No blackhat or anything like that, just pure blogging and social media sharings and postings. Like us, she was frustrated and terrified when the update happened and I told her to just wait. She waited (since late July or so) till just a few days ago and her rankings and traffic returned as normal. So whitehat isn't dead yet, don't give up!

My rankings have returned too. But some are still bouncing around. All these 'ranking returns' happened during the past 2 days. So I would give it another 1-2 weeks.

And what we all did? Nothing. We all just wait and carried on as normal. Many competitors with junk content were wiped out... there are still a few hanging around but not as much as before.

So I would say the update itself does improve Google's search results - giving users quality content. Kudos, Google.

I doubt an About or Author page will help, one of my client's (whitehat) also has a press page, a landing page to his book, all his press appearances, and his site still dropped 50% (he's in the finance industry). His rankings are slowly coming back.
I will say this about the bightside of this update, it has given me more opportunities to position my other services (cross-sell) to my clients. Especially after I illustrate how relying soley on SEO is not a smart game plan - while positioning video, social media and PPC to diversify their traffic sources...

I just signed in but I've followed this Topic since the really beginning!

My website dropped like 30%. After it was fluctuating, some days more or less as before, next days good as hell after decrease, increase etc.

So for me its still dancing, but yesterday I had a solid day. Today its panned.

I will let it go. As other says, I am pretty sure its a matter of time. What really hits me bad is on the KeyWord Google Flight and variation for the french market, went from 6-7 to 16. Decrease my impressions by 10 000 a day. LOL - This one I really hope it will come back. My website is close to 11 months

but i ordered a product image for my site and i also added a self made youtube video.

Yes. Traffic is pure seo.

I'm lost. Most of my links have not lost position at all. Most are still in front page 2-6 place. But my traffic keeps going down. I honestly don't what's going on. August 1 is when my traffic started dropping.

I understand that you have no interest in sharing your "trick" with your competition, but then why even bragging in this thread that you've managed to fix the issue? I don't get it.

What can you do if you were hit?

1- Add a privacy policy page
2- Brag about credentials on the about page
3- Add a Blog section even if it is not required, Google loves it.
4- Press section is a huge plus
5- Have an author bio.

If you see my post I have written "a small tweak did it for me". I never said I am going to share a magic trick that is going to fix all the websites. Also, it was an update that impacted all the sites differently. There is no single fix that will work for all. It worked for me because I think it was the only thing my site was lacking as compared to my competitors. I dug deeper into the matter and figured out this update was all about how much trustworthy your website looks than other factors. It was a generic update so expect a generic answer.

Btw, the niche is gaming and it has completely recovered if regular fluctuations are ignored.

My sites have taken hits and i decided to wait it out and let the dust settle. The rankings have not returned in most cases and the dust has most certainly settled so its time to act.

I have just added an about page on one of my affected sites and i am in the process of adding a author bio to my posts.

Just read about this update now. Seems it's a hit on YMYL/EAT -- essentially authority of information and owner when it comes to keywords/topics that affect a visitors health or well-being.

As someone who is in and starting more health sites, how long until I need a PhD in order to rank for a nutrition article?

So even though a site has low EAT and can't rank well in SERPs due to this, the admin can still invest in Adwords and pay a good amount for above the fold position for the "keyword A" and become #1.
Where is google's protection of readers now?
Or are adword ads also ranked using an algo, regardless of the amount you're ready to pay for 1 click?

I'm not an adwords guy so I am not competent here. However, you're acting as if Google or any profit-driven company actually gives a crap. I'm sure adwords has some rules to prevent ad spam or low quality, but even if they didn't that's favoring the wealthy--the people who can afford these YMYL expensive ads.
