I guess stealing makes them feel unethical so they share it with others to wash away their bad deeds

Sitting in a theatre with a camera, recording a TV show or movie off TV, or ripping a movie from a disc technically isn't stealing. Stealing a physical disc from the store is stealing.

Making a copy of something isn't theft, it's only theft when you're stealing a physical object from somebody. If I were to paint a copy of the Mona Lisa, I'm not stealing the Mona Lisa. There is only one Mona Lisa, the actual physical painting.

The whole "piracy is stealing" thing is a bunch of political propaganda. It's designed to benefit the greedy major studios who are obsessed with their money. And they try to make it out like it's a huge deal when an EU report determined that piracy isn't harmful at all, so they tried to hide the findings because it didn't fit within their agenda of demonising people who share things. You can try and dress it up as much as you like, it is theft. Huge amounts of money are lost, which would have otherwise gone to the owner of the product.

Well . . . you can look at it in this way: If there were no pirates, there would be no torrents. Some people upload them solely for the sake of recognition.

It's a moral issue. If you are disturbed by the fact that people are uploading pirated materials, then maybe you should stay away from torrent sites.

The choice is yours . . .

By the way, I never watch movies that are shot in the theater with a handheld cam. The quality always sucks.
