Hello,

In the Instagram community, I've seen that Indian followers are known to be hard to monetize. I've been running Instagram story ads to grow a recently started motivational page, they have been quite effective. However, because the ad targeting is worldwide I've gained followers that are spread over in different locations. My follower demographics now read 26% India, 10% United States, 7% Pakistan, 3% Morocco etc. I only have 3k followers however I'm growing at a fast rate. Are these demographics normal and are they going to cause me problems in the future when I start to monetize? Is there any way to gain more US-based followers etc. I'm mostly going to be doing digital products such as courses.

Thanks

It's pretty common to have a high Indian and Brazilian demographic, especially in certain niches like food, DIY or makeup. But they're common in any niche. And yes, you're going to have an extremely difficult time selling to these people. It's hard enough to sell to T1 countries, but next to impossible to sell to people from developing countries.

The only thing you can really do is target followers by following English/American/Canadian profiles. Otherwise, if you're gaining from Explore this is bound to happen. :(

Well depends on how targetted your userbase is. Ecommerce works really well for micro influencers with indian audience. You will surely have hard time with cpa and affiliate though. Sell cheap stuff, direct them to deals, sell what your audience don't see usually on big ecom websites but is really useful for them.
