Is using BH to reduce Bounce Rate and increase CTR a good idea?

Hey!
So I've been wondering.
My site is currently at 58% bounce rate.
I've been doing some rigorous SEO + PBNs with some of the top sellers here on BHW.
Seeing some great results.

With that said, I can't stop wondering if using black hat tools to lower my bounce rate and increase my CTR going to result in a recognizable increase in the SERPs?

Anyone had experience with this? And is this 100% safe?

I used a plugin some time back to reduce bounce rate by redirecting users to a specific page when they hit the back button.

I got flagged up and site got de-indexed by google.

Never tried manipulating CTR though, but in theory it could have a positive effect.

Damn. I was also kind of looking into a plug-in to reduce bounce rate. It really did feel like SUPER black hat thats why thought I'd ask around.

Thanks for your insight! I'd rather not use it and risk my current rankings which is pretty great and took a ton of investment and hard work.

I think my site may have got manually reported though rather than google being able to detect the code.

I posted about it and others said they had been using similar code for a long time without issue.

Also I saw a big authority QA site recently that employed something similar - when you landed on the site, the back button was greyed out! So it is possible to get away with it.

Also, in my case I removed the code, notified google via WMT and my site was back within about 10 days.

Such a high bounce rate indicates that visitors are not getting the information/value they were hoping to get when they decided to visit your website. So you might want to work on your content, I thing that will give you the biggest ROI.

Both are very hard to do as far as I know.

Lowering Bounce Rate: If a user visits your site then hit the back button, it's a bounce, but there's also dwell time, a user could go 5 pages through your website and still spend far under 30 seconds before returning and seeking a new result which in essence should count as a bounce. Manipulation of the back button is malicious, as one user posted, he got de-indexed for it.

Increasing CTR: Tried it once with those 'organic search traffic' gigs, didn't help. It's much more than simply searching with a bot, finding your result and clicking it. User agents, logged in/logged out(Chrome) and other checks for human like behavior.

The best suggestion i'd have to get both of those done is, write a good meta desc, offer something irresistible, then have good content to match or some complex system which forces users to waste time clicking through your pages, increasing dwell and decreasing bounce.
