Google Chrome will start blocking ads on February 15

native ads are no different, they will be blocked too unless they meet the NEW guidelines
I've read the guidelines only ads that annoy visitors like full page popunders will be wiped out, anything that passes the guidelines will be ok.

If they are going to block these types of ads.. I am all in. They are right, its a hell of annoying

Moreover, it will make things more difficult for newbies, and harder means higher prices which is good news for us.

I like when things get harder ..

They'll just kill every other ad networks and only allow adsense to go through.

Time to go back to firefox.

It says what type of add in the guidelines, not specific companies. Worth reading to see what type of add are going to be blocked

Indeed, our analytics deeply investigated this question. The most used native ad formats such as Under Article or In-article widgets won't be affected at all. The result of the research you may find at our official blog.

I read the guidelines, lots of unnecessary panic going on, it's only ads that annoy.

being in the adult niche, this is terrible news for me :( lol

Exactly, mate. Does this mean Popads and Link Shorteners are going to be a thing of the past? It's just something hard to grasp. I received an email from JuicyAds a couple of days ago explaining the matter, but I have no idea how Link Shorteners are going to handle this.

What are you using at the moment, and what do you guys think are going to happen regarding adult niches monetization?

It's where ads cover more than 30% of main content.

So if you have an article with only 100 words, and an ad, it might go against their terms and thus not show in Chrome.

An article of 500 words probably won't be able to show 3 ads, unless they're specifically small ads.

Who likes those annoying ads anyway? Only the worst marketers would use flashing/sound ads, they should have been banned when MySpace died.

For me, it's not about using 'flashing/sound ads', it's about the 30% Ad Density issue.

Yes I know, as I said I read it lol!

I wonder why they don't just address the root of the problem: why non-compliant ads are being accepted by Google in the first place. Perhaps the Chrome team has some autonomy and the Adwords team just wasn't on board.

You should know by now, although Google are a large company, they lack common sense.

They are trying to increase their revenues by destroying others

But aren't they hurting themselves too?

They'll also be blocking their own ads when their ads account for over 30% density. Unless the thinking here is they say they will, but they actually won't.

Google uses both popups and Prestitial ads with a countdown on Youtube.
Will they whitelist their own properties and screw over everyone else?
