[JOURNEY] WooCommerce + IG!

Hi,

You promote your webstore just with IG? Will you use any other methods?

Hi,

You promote your webstore just with IG? Will you use any other methods?
As for now just with IG yes. Not yet busy with other methods but will definitely have to if I want to succeed ;)

Just curious, why woocommerce instead of shopify?

WooCommerce has more functionalities, more customization possibilities, is free, and has lots of free plugins. Shopify is for people with some money to make some quick money, WooCommerce is for people with a little less money (let's say the budget of a 16 year old ;)) and for longer term projects. On top of that, building a WooCommerce store teaches you way more than building a Shopify store does.

WooCommerce has been good to me (only new to this site, been in eCommerce & IM for years)

Best of luck!

Depends on the niche, maybe nothing good since you have some experience ;)
Since you want to grow something stable and long term, I’ll add my general admin & management best practices.
I’ve worked with established small businesses (several older ones), mostly brick or small warehouse, anywhere from 10 to over 1,000. Mostly ~50-200 not including variations. Oh and a start up here and there.

- automate site backups
- templates and spreadsheets are my best friends
- outline bookkeeping & taxes so you’re not surprised (same with expenses and deductions)
- same w/ international shipping
- keep plugins up to date (at some point, you’ll want to monitor in case of downtime - dm me for elaboration)
- build your FAQ or knowledge base early and amend as needed (personable replies are great but typing the same thing 30 times is a pain - Gmail has canned responses you can edit)
- use Yoast or similar & optimized image/description for social sharing
- if there’s not tooooo much local competition, grab some inventory & use geotargeting
— especially helpful for authentic photos, maybe videos, giveaway etc.
— plan for holiday promotions (even super fake ones like International *applicable topic* Day)
- utilize social listening
- know your products, know the weaknesses & competition
— sister products, superior products

I know some things and get creative with my dayjob’s social/outreach but I’m certainly not an internet marketing wizard. I’ll defer to others to correct me/provide constructive criticisms, chime in etc.

Anything you’re particularly stuck on?

Very good tips indeed! Work in a structured way, make sure you keep track of everything - what's working and what's not and try to analyze to optimize the best practices - and like hellosarah is saying, keep the financial side of your business up to date, I see too many people panicking at the last moment when they have to report monthly/quarterly/annually to the friends of the Belastingdienst, because they did not keep their numbers up-to-date.

Well planned. Hope for the best.

I am also growing my IG manually. My plan is almost same. I will follow your updates, keep updating.

Best of luck.

Cheers....

Thanks for the list! Already doing most of them, but I'm especially interested in your tips for geotargeting as I have indeed grabbed some inventory.

Thank you! Due to sickness and a laptop that decided to quit on me it has been a while but now that my inventory arrived I'm extra motivated to work on the site! I am working on the next update
