I love the BHW stupidity...

So you were offering a paid coaching service outside of the marketplace?

You should know that selling or offering services outside of the marketplace is prohibited here.

If I recall correctly, there's a post floating around where a member went into the details regarding why mentoring is prohibited here, but you can find posts as far back as 2010 stating that it's prohibited.

That joke originated from this thread: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/how-much-monkey-can-you-keep-in-papal.491315/
Nah I have not tried to sell outside BST, I just asked the bst moderator if I can open such a thread and he said No.
If the coaching is prohibited since 2010, it dosnt mean that is normal...we are around 500 members which we complained about SEO threads from this forum, but are still allowed :)
Also if coaching is prohibited, why ebooks are allowed? It's basically the same thing, except that you are talking to each costumer instead sending them a .pdf

1 on 1 coaching is not the same as a compiled course/ebook.
If it is 'basically the same thing' then you should have no problems packing all the info in an ebook/course and selling it in the marketplace.

Also BHW is not a democracy. Everyone has reservations with one thing or another. But Damien bought the site for a lot of $$$ so he has every right to impose whatever rules he wants. ;)
You either play by the rules or you don't play. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In case of an ebook, you get what you pay for, information. That's not the case when it comes to mentoring. Mentoring promises that you'll actually 'DO' something. That can be as simple as 'learning a new skill' or something as redundant as 'I'll help you make $100 a day blah blah'.

And that doesn't always work out, neither for the seller nor for the buyer. Imagine the countless shitlist threads popping up because 'Person A' is too stupid to learn something or 'Person B' is too stupid to teach something?

Promises can almost always never be kept. It causes too much of a tension. There's plenty of free resources to learn from.

PS. I've seen such 'mentoring' threads on other forums and it's always a smorgasbord of dissatisfaction.

EDIT : @bk071 got it right. Looks like we posted at the same time haha

Ah, all right, thanks for clarifying.

This is an SEO forum, banning SEO threads would be ludicrous. That's tantamount to banning discussions about Mercedes-Benz on a Mercedes-Benz forum.

In addition to that, whether or not something gets banned is up to the forum owner, not the number of members who complain about it.

They're not the same thing: an e-book is a pre-packaged learning experience while coaching offers a tailored learning experience. They're as similar as off-the-rack and bespoke suits.

At the same time though, I've never been a big proponent of ebooks on this forum, so I can see the point you're trying to make.

Fair and resonable, but if you see it that strict, the suggestions section should be dumped.

A lot of the suggestions that came from regular members have been implemented so that section is not entirely useless. It's not like the admins don't care about the users at all. They do and the shit-list section is the proof. Mods in that section don't get paid to resolve members' disputes but we still see @BassTrackerBoats putting in a lot of effort and time to resolve SL threads. (Let's not forget @OldSalt and @jazzc).

OP specifically raised the matter of coaching disallowing 1-on-1 coaching in the marketplace section. That is up to admin's discretion and I'm sure there is a good reason behind having that rule in place.

That said, like @Zwielicht, I'm not a big fan of courses/ebooks or the whole 'guru' mentality either and would probably vote against allowing them in the marketplace.

the most simplistic way of looking at it is this.
DD bought the forum - he owns it - he makes the rules, some we will agree with, some we wont.
but he has the final say, a rule thats been around since 2010 isnt likely to change in
almost 2018 , doesnt mean u have to like it or think its right, it just means thats how it is
and u have to put up with it. thats life,

zw - sent u a pm.

I know the post you're referring to but I can't find it at the moment. However, these are a couple of posts I've made to explain the rule in the past:

That's true if you find the right person and they've got something invested in teaching you their tricks. Otherwise, what's the motivation for someone you've never spoken to on a forum to spend their time mentoring you? They're training a competitor, giving you their hard-won secrets and potentially saturating their methods. From their point of view, a win-win is where you give them lots of money and they give you the absolute smallest amount of information to go away happy.

Not to be cynical - there are an awful lot of good people here who aren't like that. Unfortunately, the good ones aren't the people spamming you with PM's about their coaching services.

^this. We don't allow it because it was abused and too many people gave money to mentors in exchange for nothing. Best mentor is yourself + lots and lots of research. Read through the sticky threads in the different forum sections to get started.

Once you've got a better idea of how you're going to start off, you can post questions here. Make sure they're researched and carefully worded so members can help you better and you get the answers you want.

maybe OP wants to have recurring income by offering coaching. idk, i think mentoring/coaching is a shady business. its hard to determine which one is legit and which one is not. even SOME legit coaches would eventually run with the money. and yeah, ebook bst. i dont like it either. just wait a couple of months and you probably can see it in the download section or someone opening a thread explaining the exact method. just like WSO. as for the BHW rules, there are always rooms for improvement, try and error. if the community thinks its a go (since most of the time people are forced to take action), lets give it a chance then. if it turns out to be a bad thing, its a no.

thing is, this isnt a majority rule jack - owner says no its no.
no offense meant

We have tons of SEO threads all promoting "website ranking" while just 0.1% of them are really helps your rank.

Please post proof in the form of screenshots of your testing all the services that offer website ranking and that only 0.1% helps you rank.

That's the point...I dont have a method. I just have enough experience to can help others with optimization and other stuffs.

The problem is that Mods wouldn't have the time to judge your experience. Also if somebody is dissatisfied with your coaching and they don't make money will you be offering them a money back guarantee? Somebody is bound to be unhappy or even if they just wanted their money back they would shitlist you and try to charge back any payments.
Coaching/Mentoring has been banned on BHW for a long time, so it isn't a new rule.
You mentioned ebooks and courses, there is nothing to stop you from creating a course or ebook then offering support on your own website, although that wouldn't make you immune from the shitlist should anybody have a complaint.
It really isn't worth the hassle, leave it to the Guru's

Because isn't free?!
create a twitter or telegram blog where you will share your experience. It`s pretty respected to share experience (i`m not talking about spoonfeed) and you will be able to do it on other platforms

Good luck

@BigTroll - thanks for taking the time to put this out there.

Our position on this is clear and from experience - as @Conor @Asif WILSON Khan and others mentioned above.

This is how it goes.

1. A member would offer a training package on BHW. Often "delivered" over many weeks.
2. Members sign up and pay expecting to be educated.
3. The training doesn't appear, is regurgitated from what they can read for free around the forum, verbatim from out of date books or just wrong.
4. We get complaints about the seller.
5. The seller is removed from BHW
Rince and repeat.

Out of interest:

we are around 500 members which we complained about SEO threads from this forum,

Please clarify where these complaints were submitted and when. If 500+ members complained and reported their complaint through the report button it would have been noted.

Also if coaching is prohibited, why ebooks are allowed? It's basically the same thing, except that you are talking to each costumer instead sending them a .pdf

Ebooks are completed and deliverable for review. "Training / mentoring packages" are limited by my points listed above.

BHW is full of valuable information, successful journey threads, AMA where some members offered a lot their time to respond to every question, and the marketplace with good services as well... with all of the Free info, there is only 5 to 10% who take action... can you imagine...and even some of them still cant make money

Now, imagine that some members pay you money, what you can do with them to take action at first, and then earn money after, they paid you money so they want some returns without spending time,
