I have a website that is ranking at or near the top for all the major keywords in Bing and Yahoo, but it got the "Thin content with little or no added value" penalty from Google and gets 0 traffic from Google now.

In your opinion, would it be worth it to de-index the thin content pages (And put them behind a login) in order to get indexed by Google again and risk losing all my organic search traffic from Bing/Yahoo, or should I just keep the thin content pages and never get traffic from Google?

I guess what I'm asking is, do you think Google traffic is more valuable in the long run than Bing/Yahoo traffic?

Bing/Yahoo traffic? Is that a thing?
LOL that's what I thought until I checked the analytics and noticed 90%+ of the traffic was coming from Bing/Yahoo. It's a site that was sitting for awhile, and I finally came back to after seeing that

My 2 cents: get a new domain and restart, working on Google traffic.

How much traffic do you get from Bing/Yahoo, and are you making a good profit?

I thought about doing that but the domain is too good. It's an exact match to the main KW I'm targetting

Not a ton, it's just the majority of the traffic. No profit yet, but I recently started adding more of the "Thin content" pages and the traffic is increasing steadily from Bing/Yahoo.

The website is a database of maps related to my industry. Each of the "thin content" pages is just the KW in the header and a link to the map below.

That's why I thought maybe just put all the map pages behind a login so they aren't indexed anymore, and then just drive traffic through the parent pages and from the blog?

Ranking on Bing and Yahoo is not that difficult compared to google..If you have good traffic then no need to mess with but if not google is only king in this internet jungle as for now

In yahoo/bing having exact match domain is really important. I google it isn't that important.

So it is a good idea to rank in gogle using a separate domain.

So if I get a new domain, should I 301 redirect the old domain or does that pass the penalty on to the new site?

I was thinking block the Google crawler (so the penalty domain isn't 301), then 301 for everything else to the new domain. So the traffic you get from Yahoo and Bing still remains, and you can start fresh on Google.

Agreed. Two are better than one. If he's banking o what he has he risks it by attempting to engineer changes to satisfy Google. Even if his domain is "too good" it won't matter if he ruins his Bing rankings. Find another "too good" domain and build a second winner. This is how to own a niche.
