[$1000 / Day] eCommerce Journey

Today is the last day in August. I want to finish strong, stronger than yesterday, and the day before. I met my goals for this month which was $2000 in revenue. Anything extra is the icing on the cake now.

Will update you guys by the end of today with what I've done and the goals for next month.

I ended the month with a little bit less profit than yesterday. It doesn't bother me though, my revenue goal met, and my profit has increased. September will be an exciting month.
Now, I spent a little bit on thinking what my I wanted to accomplish by the end of September.
  • $6000 revenue
  • 2.00 ROI from FaceBook Ads
  • Dive into the deep end with Adwords
$6000 doesn't seem it will be a problem at the rate that I'm going with my ads. However, I want to increase my profit. I'm a little bit of a dummy and forgot to track ROI for August. I have a feeling that my ROI was between 1.0 - 2.0. I'll be recording this every day from now on.

It's time to get my hands dirty with Adwords. I want at the very least one successful campaign. A successful campaign will take some time, but if I'm tweaking it little by little everyday, I think I can reach it in 30 days.

Earnings
Spent: $215.58
Revenue: $402.87
Profit: $187.29

August Revenue: $4225.44

Here's to another 30 days!

I felt like I needed a little break so I haven't done much the last few days except for tweaking ads and creating new ones. Will go over that below and how the last few days have been. I'm ready to get back to the grind tomorrow as this long weekend has been great for refueling for the month to come.

Interesting few days. I started off the month great but the last three days have been rough. Ads aren't converting but I have a feeling that it's because my main audience was away for the weekend. It's the last weekend before school starts (Labour day) and my target audience is most likely spending time with their families. That's just my hunch.

I decided to create new ads higher up in the funnel. The new set of ads are for Add To Carts. For now, this will be as high as the funnel I'll go. I know for a fact that I'll be able to get enough results for FaceBook to optimize properly. For new products, this will be the go to. I'm debating if I want to do PPE for new Interest and Behaviours or sticking with ATC (Add to Cart). I'm leaning towards PPE, but the new ATC ads are already converting to sales.

The last week or so, my website has had a 21% increase in keywords (Data is from SEMRush). Some of those keywords appeared right onto the second and first page of Google. Pretty dope, when you look at it and see that I'm beating some of my competitors. I haven't done anything other than post on places where my target audience is. I haven't intentionally built links or anything and only been doing it for the potential traffic I could generate instantly.

What really excites me is that I'm starting to see what keywords I'm appearing for and what's converting. This is going to make my Adwords campaign a little bit easier.

Ah.. I'm getting ahead of myself.

Thanks! I won't be handing out my Skype but if you have any specific questions, ask here, and I'll try my best to answer it.

The best way to start is to find a vertical that you're passionate about, that has TONS of money flowing through (think billions), and something you're good at doing.

Ah, I've been there before. A previous project I did, I was getting thousands of traffic to my website, and it wasn't converting. That was when I learned that getting traffic is the easiest part and that converting the traffic is where most people will quit.

I recommend that you warm up your traffic before they come to the website. Talk about the benefits of the product instead of the product itself.

For example:
"I've used JUICE MASTER to create my breakfast for the entire week in less than an hour! All I needed was some fresh fruit from the store and some organic milk. Delicious and tasty. Who said dieting was hard? I'm already down 5lbs and I haven't even exercised"

Very good tips, I can further recommend the book "Cashvertising" by Drew Eric Whitman who goes into the subject you just explained among many other great tips for marketing. It's pretty old fashioned but you can easily implement it in internet marketing.

GL with your goal, so far so good!

Thanks cptprodigy.

That's a great book from what others have said. I haven't personally read it yet, but I'm planning on it once I reach my journies goal.

Hey,

Thanks for sharing all the info thus far. How do you go about starting your FB ads when you launch a product? Do you run PPE ads first then switch to Conversions? For conversion ads do you start with ATC or View content? I am still struggling to find the right mix of ads to run.

From what I read and watch, a lot of people start with PPE ads and get great engagement. I have yet to receive any good engagement or link clicks so thats why I have stopped running those ads.

Thanks in advance!

I'ver never started with PPE (Hell I don't really like PPE) and moved onto web conversions. I do ads a little bit different. Like other business, I like to gather data instead of taking multiple shots into the dark. I join different FaceBook groups in my niche and post my product, engage with the community, and most importantly - I DON'T SPAM.

If the post generates sales from the group then I'll look at the interest of the group and the members. Now that I know that these interests I found will convert, I'll create a CPC ad. If that drives sales, I move onto Add To Cart conversions. I used to jump straight to Purchase conversions but I realized that 90% of my ads never got the minimum of 15 conversions/week. I moved higher up the funnel and will work my way down again slowly.

This is different from most other methods here, but it's something I've come up when I started this with $0 and didn't want to waste money to gather data when I could do it for free. I like this method because 95% of people aren't willing to get their hands dirty and another 4% will quit because engaging with the group is hard.

What product is it you are selling? Unless this is private then np.

I create my own digital products. Can't say anymore as this is almost a blue ocean business.

This is it right here! I have been reviewing a lot of the "Just pay shipping" stores and realized that it is a very short term strategy of creating a store. There is no brand building and a way to charge premium for a product by building a brand.

My goal is to create long-term success and nothing short term (hit it and quit it) lol.

I have not mastered a way to engage with groups but I have stared to join their interest page to understand how they engage. Although I am no were in my journey but I am learning tons and am sure its just a matter of time that things will fall into place.

Thank you for that advice. It was very much needed.

@throwAway I find it ironic and slightly amusing that you want a long term business but your BHW user is "throwAway" :D We will get there lad, as will anyone who gets their hands dirty (as OP pointed it out).

It's been a busy week with preparing a new product and content. The product is almost finished and it needs that finishing touch before we start recording it. Did I ever mention I do all the recording with my iPhone and a selfie stick that I bought for $2? If you're hesitant on starting because you lack the equipment, you're not. I'm even going to say that if you're reading this thread, you have everything you need (the internet + desktop/laptop/fancy cell phone).

Had a few rough days so far this month but things are looking good. I created new Purchase Conversion ads that will/have hit the minimum amount of conversions needed to properly optimize(15).

Getting more organic traffic + conversions this month vs. last month. Things are going good so far. This means that I have to work even harder to prepare for the bad that's coming, it always does. Do you have enough to survive for the long winter that's coming? I don't know if I am.. so I'll keep grinding until I do know that I'm ready.
