Hey, something just came to my mind. What if I see my competitor has done a KW research and wrote an review article on low comp KW in my niche - then I decide to take that same KW, write similar article, optimize it, add some more LSI KWs and then start adding few quality backlinks to it. Could I just outrank my competition, is it easy as it sounds, has anyone tried it?

From a competitor who just published a post and doesn't hope for someone to do that? It might work and bring in some juice, what do you think? I would just surf over the competitor sites and check for each title of an article then check the kw from that articles and see how it ranks with other competitors and use that if I think it would be profitable and easy rankable.

It is as easy as it sounds, and sometimes much more difficult. Competitive research goes beyond finding and targeting their keywords. Also, your competitiors aren't always right. Maybe there is something even better to target that they missed.

What if your competitor didn't proper research and instead write on a low competition kw with zero search per month?
What if your competitor did a proper research and then write on a high competition kw with KD of 50 and above?

Well, you can use that as a base for doing your research. Don't jump on and start writing on your competitor's topic without doing your own due diligence.

You are confident that your competitor get the right keywords? If it's indeed a right KW, you optimize it, you may outrank your competitor, but if your competitor cheats you, you have to find out the true KW. Good Luck.

sorry to bring the current reality to you, but most niches have already sites that dont need links on new articles to rank them. so good luck outranking them
