5+ Year Journey To 5 Million YouTube Subscriptions

Now that I'm recording and editing two videos a day - I feel that I'll have to put off writing game reviews for the time being. There's just so much that goes into it. Everything must be taken into consideration. PC games record better with Bandicam while older SNES games record better with OBS studio. That is how it is on my end. If you record without a microphone the sound glitches out sometimes. Then you have to be careful to check that game is running on full screen.

One game had me rerecording the same level at least 4 times, because it showed a white screen throughout. If the video is high quality then Bandicam bugs out if you turn the game off before you stop the recording. I kept doing it by accident and had to play it exactly the same way + say the same damn stuff over and over, lol. Sometimes I sound annoyed due to this, so that's something else to keep in mind.

Also, I'm doing it the hard way because I only do live commentary. I time my jokes while playing and improvise on the spot. Unlike post-commentary people who always have some clever thing to say. Sometimes your character gets brutalized by enemies while you are saying something, forcing you to stop mid-sentence. It's a challenge but it feels more real to me. There were two instances where I had a brain fart and sat for 2 minutes trying to finish my sentence on the spot. Of course, that was edited out, lmao. Amazingly enough I rarely do "uhh" and "umm", but I do clear my throat a lot. That's even more editing time.

I have a video that is 2 and a half minutes long but took longer to edit than some of my 30 minute videos. It all depends on how much stuff you put into them.

I overslept today and am now editing the videos at night. I enjoy certain forms of content writing and have even tried transcribing audio files. Making videos excites me more than content writing. 20 years ago I was more social and had many friends. Over the years, we had a lot of family drama. My dad's side of the family lived close to each other, but over time we moved away and didn't socialize much. I miss the days when I would sit in the living room with my friends/cousins and had fun playing games.

When I upload videos it feels like I'm back there again. Now my viewers are the ones who are sitting in front of their computers/mobile phones, watching me play games. It's a warm feeling knowing that there are people who enjoy the things that I do.

This is awesome, Elin! It's great that you've found your passion and that you're going all in to achieve it. That's the spirit! I wish you the best of luck on your journey, but I know you don't need that! ;)

So today I found out how to overlay and resize images on my videos.

how many subscriber and views do you have right now?

I feel like some of you lads are just trying to get your post count in...

how many subscriber and views do you have right now?
Honestly, a small handful and a few hundred for views. I'm doing it the legit way without fake views or subs. I'm committed to it and try to get in 2 videos a day even if I have to sit there until 6 am. With each video that I upload, my editing skills improve.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some stuff to consider -

  • A 30 minute video can take up to 3 hours to edit. My longest one was 1 hour and 11 minutes long (before editing).
  • Up to 2 hours go into converting .mlt to .mp4 for a single vid
  • YouTube processing might cause certain errors that weren't there during editing
  • I sometimes rerecord videos several times in a row
  • I need a new HDD, even one 480p video is around 500MB...
Time goes by quickly when you're really focused.

Good job Dotsya, focus on the actions that move you forward. Fuck the good luck spiel. This is all up to you!

Focus on making content that your niche values and test and tweak outreach and thumbnail tricks. The real passion will come after you start seeing results.

Like Robbaz or H3H3 for example,
1. They do the crazy shit fans love. Most YouTubers aren't willing to say and do such things. (Despite that being the whole point of YouTube!!!)
2. They know how to get the "filthy peasants" clicking the bait.
3. When fans click they are rarely/never disappointed.
4. Their content is also really valued and plenty of people tell other people about it. (the emotions stirred)

They ain't some forgetable kid with nothing memorable to do or say.

This puts em' beyond the algorithm to a certain point. They have disciples to spread their message.

What the last poster said - the most important thing is to show YOUR personality. There are thousands of youtubers who do gaming out there - you must show your character because that is the biggest reason people subscribe to you - political correctness is not the way to go.

Dude, just do some try not to laugh challenges. 1hr long gaming vids? Why wouldn't you make it 10 mins with the most entertaining parts?
